My first post, hope I don't mess up.

I have been trying to do this project myself, but after weeks of research and confusion, I need help.
My dad is older and does not have or need internet, when we go visit him it would be nice if we could use a Hotspot for our laptop, phones, etc.
I got a yagi antenna and have a Linksys WRT54G Ver. 2.
I have the 54gv2 flashed with: dd-wrt.v24_13064_VINT_std.bin, is this the right one?
I am sure this has been done many times before. I have been going in circles reading what to do.
Could someone help this confused person with this project?

Thank you,
rz

I think I need a wireless repeater?
I am trying to get open wifi networks to the 54g.
I have dd-wrt installed on the wrt54gv2, and it works.
I used dd-wrt.v24_13064_VINT_std.bin, but not sure if this is the one I should be using for this project?
Thanks

The simplest would to tether your phone wireless
connection My Sony Xperia S has a micro-hdmi cable &
will connect to my monitor and any TV thru hdmi.
Not saying buy a new phone but £70 on ebay because
there so old. why did you fit a yagi

first step. you have a bad build on there. you should use 12548 or 14929. 13064 is not recommended.

DD-WRT is all new for me. I have been reading. Found: Index of ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2010/08-12-10-r14929/linksys-wrt54g2v11/, is this the one I should use?
I do the 30-30-30 reset, then use the GUI to load over 13064?

I'll try and do one step at a time.
Thank you guys for helping.

1.click on this link
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/02-24-2015-r26348/broadcom/
2.choose the version for your router and download it
3.administration with in dd-wrt do factory default

4.Firmware Upgrade. find the firmware you just
downloaded.
5.Do factory default.
Remember factory default is the same as
30-30-30 reset

Bob, Thank you! I now have dd-wrt.v24_mini_wrt54g flashed and working.
I did not know there was so much involved in this "simple project", I have a lot to learn.
All I was looking to do was get a wifi signal that was open to the public, like fast food places, etc. that we could use at my dad's place when we go over there.
Any ideas on what will work for that, repeater, client, ap?

Murrkf, I have read the peacock over 10 times, maybe a little worm to help get started?Smile

Thanks all

Note one answered your last question. Notes 3 and 4 answered your previous ones. The rest of it answered many of the questions you didn't ask yet.
