Perhaps you would be better informed if you were to read this thread on the R8000.

Then you would have seen this.. something I missed and wish I hadn't..

Anyways, I'm pretty much done with the R8000, I'll do some testing the next days, if it runs stable I'll merge Makefiles for arm and commit it, after that we can publish builds for it.
Surprised to see 2 "NO" votes casted for this. Why someone would be against this support?
Yes. That's curious. Anyway, maybe if we get enough votes it catches someone's attention to sponsor us. Netgear for instance. I believe our very valued developers might appreciate that.

tl;dr - we're stuck for now..
The question here is: did he merge makefiles for arm and commit it? I don't think so, otherwise after the initial .chk trail version, we could use the latest STD.bin, which doesn't seem to be the case.

Yes, I confirmed this. Just for giggles I flashed this firmware on my R8000.
After successful flash and reboot the Wireless page showed only one 5GHz vlan. So this is not merged yet and only meant for R7000.
Would of been nice to see more updated builds for this. Seems like such a waste to get everyone's hopes up to have it squashed like that. This is the same thing that is going on with the wrt1900ac where there are new builds coming out but it is only the select few that can see them. 3 Months of testing of the wrt1900ac without a single build coming out to the public.
It's sometimes a tough call on which router to buy for DD-WRT. Buying expensive routers and not seeing the DD-WRT support can be disappointing, but at the same time all your money getting that pricey router went to seller & manufacturer, none to DD-WRT.
When I upgrade I always wait for DD-WRT to have good support on a router (by reading the user's posts) I'm looking to buy, and sometimes the router is near end of production. IMO, these 3-band router are just getting ported to DD-WRT and something this new is going to take time to workout all the bugs to get all the DD-WRT features working right.
Before I bought the R7000 I had the E3000 as my main wireless. The wireless in my home was poor because of all the channels used by the neighbors. Now with R7000 even with conflicting channels, all my devices stay connected and this is my main priority for getting the R7000, the way it handles wifi interference so well.
IMO, The R7000 is one of the best routers with DD-WRT support. If you need more bands get a 2nd one. I have 3 and one is just in storage as a spare and plan to get more. _________________ Home Network on Telus 1Gb PureFibre - 10GbE Copper Backbone

Definitely a frustrating situation. Especially for groups like Flashrouters who have been selling the R8000 with dd-wrt pre-installed. It definitely puts them in an awkward situation.

To me their routers are more expensive than the ones you can get off of newegg or any other online stores. All they are doing is flashing the dd-wrt firmware on it and turning around selling it for $200 more.
The issue is that Kong appears to have stopped work on firmware updates.
And nothing is coming from BS either
NOT that there have been no dd-wrt releases, but that there are no new ones.
KONG has other priorities, this is a like hobby. Plus if there are some issues with the current state of the build that will not benefit the R8000 you will not see an update. You just have to be patient, or return it a wait for better support if you are unhappy. _________________ Home Network on Telus 1Gb PureFibre - 10GbE Copper Backbone
