Hi All,

I found a sealed Airlink 101 AR430W that I purchased many years ago and decided to open it up and install DD-WRT. I got it working with DD-WRT v24-sp1 (07//26/08) and then tried to upgrade to r26947 (05/19/15) and No Wireless, No LAN. So I recovered back to v24-sp1 and tried r23598 v24-preSP2. No Wireless, No LAN either.

So I was wondering what's the latest build of DD-WRT which still has working wireless & LAN?

I've seen references to r18777, r21286 and the flashing instructions stated not to use r21676 through r23503 due to a restart loop. So I'm wondering if there's any preSP2 or SP2 firmwares that people are running on their AR430W that's working? Even though it's G-only, thought about throwing it up in Client Bridge mode off my R7000 for the fun of it.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
Kermee

I have three ar430w routers. I have not tried using it as a client bridge.

My interest is using it as an AP. I have recently experimented with builds 14896, 18777, 21061, 26866 and 26947. I finally settled on build 14896 to use the router as an AP. It has soild performance for what I require.

Build 18777 had an annoying habit of rebooting with an interval of one to two days; it also has consistent high number of WiFi packet errors. The LAN ports do not work with build 21061. The WiFi and LAN ports do not work on the newest builds.

It seems everything went down hill after build 14896. I have submitted bug reports, but I should not expect the developers to fix them. I remain grateful that build 14896 meets my needs.

Hi folgers,

I really appreciate the thorough reply. Thank you very much.

I think you're right. I'll probably switch to r14896 and give it a whirl. The 'Client Bridge' mode under v24-sp1 has some weird 'ARP/bridge' issues on the AR430W which I'm going to check to see if r14896 still has. ARP requests responses over the bridge on LAN clients doesn't always make it back to the machine which is extremely strange, yet the brctl on the AR430W itself shows that it has all the appropriate ARP entries from both sides of the bridge/ports. Very strange. Obviously, I can put in static ARP entries on each individual client on the AR430W side of the bridge, which I tried and works, but is a very poor & tedious work around.

Thanks, again!

Cheers,
Kermee
