Just got some of these routers in at the store I work for. They were a substitution (replacement?) for the WNR2000. It certainly seems to be billing itself as such, only with external antennas. I saw that there was no information whatsoever posted here about them, so I thought I'd provide some specs and pictures.
Disclaimer: This is actually the first time I've ever opened up a router, so I do not know what some of these components are, and I may have erroneously mislabeled others.
This is by far the cheapest-feeling Netgear router I've ever handled. The entire case has a matte finish rather than Netgear's typical glossy finish, and the whole thing is so lightweight it might as well be made of aerogel. Whether it's worth putting DD-WRT on this or not is yet to be seen, but I figured I'd at least provide these pictures in case anyone wanted to try.

You're right about the hardware, lagrangersf. I've been messing around with this router for a few days now that I've decided to do something with it. I was curious about the unpopulated header on the PCB, and soldered headers onto it to see if I could talk to it. (see attachment) If you want to try yourself, from left to right the pins are GND, TX, VCC (3.3v), RX. I left VCC unconnected because I didn't want to fry the board. Anyway set the baud to 57600, data 8, stop bits 1 and none for flow control and parity. Based on the information I was able to get out of the command line, it seems like it should work. I'm still poking at it though.
Here's some more info about the board that I've pieced together either from examining the boot sequence or the chip markings:
RAM: ESMT (Elite Semiconductor Memory Technology Inc) M13S2561616A-5T (which is 32Mb)
Flash: Macronix MX25L3205D (serial flash, 3.0V, 4Mb)
