Tp-link Archer C8

I understand this may not be a new question but I searched the forum but failed to find an answer to this.

I have a very good router Archer C8 from Tp-link but I failed to locate a firmware from dd-wrt (even in the beta list) for this router.

Quite interestingly, I found the firmware for C9 easily...
I think both C8 and C9 are similar in hardware (except the broadcom CPU of C9 is a little bit faster) so I don't understand why there is no firmware for C8.

Can anyone who has knowledge of this throw me some light on this? Do I have to buy another router if I want to use DD-WRT firmware (I really don't want to buy another one as C8 is quite a good WiFi router)
