Router: Buffalo WHR-300HP2
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r27506 (07/09/15) std
Kernel: Linux 3.10.83 #935 Thu Jul 9 07:36:26 CEST 2015 mips
Status: Flashed using webflash image. WAN port not working.
Reset: 30/30/30
Errors: None
Here is the test performed to assess broken WAN port:
1) From defaults set WAN connection type to disabled.
2) Assigned WAN port to switch.
3) Can ping 192.168.1.1 default IP from any of the 4 switch ports, but can not ping 192.168.1.1 when plugged into the WAN port. Media shows 100/Full connection.
Using this build on ASUS RT-N10+ B1, the AP channel changed this morning and so did the router but it was my script that did the switching, because my script restarts the services, that, in turn, made a second ap_client process appear without terminating the old one, process duplication which has already been reported, so two ap_client processes running afterwards.
So, to avoid this I added 'killall ap_client' to my script right before 'rc restart', this takes care of duplicates the hard way.
So, in this case, ap_client was useless and actually duplicated the process, but it accepted the channel change by my script and recognize the association.
Router : DIR-615 Rev D4 (Ex. VM)

Status : Flashed using Webflash image from router database image,
Reset: 30/30/30
Errors : Flash failed on first try, had use a 2014 build as intermediate.
Everything I've tried seems to be working, but not to sure what I 'should' be testing.

Look at the changelog (and maybe previous changelogs),
In this case the relevant portion to Ralinks is the ap_client for Repeaters. In your case, since you haven't been on the loop or if you are not running in Repeater mode, just saying everything is OK is good enough.
Played around a bit with most recent FW and noticed that repeaterbridge followed the router's channel selection with one exception:
no matter what selection is done "upper/ lower" on the repeater it allways sets "lower"; f.ex.: "9 upper" results in "9+5"; no connection with "9 upper" on router and "9 upper" on repeater; leads to "9+13" on router and "9+5" on repeater.
@ervau
Maybe it's because this ap_client modification doesn't like channels above 11 (max ch number in North America) for Repeater mode. You tried 9+Upper, which would be 9+13; 13 is above 11...
Try something like 6+Upper (6+10), will it connect ? _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.
