Btw, I fixed this. It was simply an uninitialized pointer was being deallocated during the cleanup at exit. It had no affect of functionality.

I want to trim down a recent Eko build to remove Kaid but keep OpenVPN from the openvpn build. After extracting the image using the firmware modification kit, how can I actually know what packages or parts can be removed from this firmware. There are no files listed in the installed_packages directory under the working directory. Does this mean that I am out of luck, since this particular image did install Kaid by means of a package?

I tried a trivial extract / build with no changes to the underlying image - but the resulting custom_image.trx sent my router into an endless reboot cycle.

Does this work? Here's what I did to build the firmware:

Code:

./extract_firmware.sh ../../dd-wrt.v24-11218_NEWD_std-nokaid_usb.bin ../../standard_working_dir/
./build_firmware.sh ../../output_dir/ ../../standard_working_dir/

Does the firmware mod kit repack these images improperly, or did I do something wrong?[/code]

As a basic test, I also tried to run extract_firmware on the image that I built - and it resulted in an error:
Code:

many people report problems when rebuilding v24 using that version of the kit

try the new firmware mod kit from Tornado's directory, it should work
