2.x vs 3.X Kernels within the Context of DD-WRT

As I understand it, the numbering change from 2.x to 3.x is merely cosmetic:

That being said, is there any DD-WRT specific implications that differentiate 2.x from 3.x kernels? It would be nice if there was a dd-wrt wiki that addressed the high-level nomenclature / numbering of the various versions of dd-wrt. Thanks

As a rule of thumb, for the same hardware specifications, K3.x builds are noticeably slower than K26 builds, at least for Broadcom-based routers.
