Remote SSH is fine on the WNDR3700v4 and also on the broadcom E2500 using K3.x --> 'see here'
I do NOT use the default port 22 for remote access.
EDIT: Local SSH on port 22 also works fine on these boxes ...

Appreciate the confirmation. Now if I could only figure out why SSH isn't working for me. I get a "socket is EOF" on both modems. Attempting access from different machines gives the same results.

I can't go too deep in this but likely the client you are using is responsible for giving you the `end of file` mess. I don`t know what you are using but you might check there first.
If you are convinced the client is ok then reset one of your routers and go from there.... bout all I know
Edit: you should of course try a different port.
Some routers may require a reboot after changing remote access security or ports.

I am beginning to think the same thing. In an attempt to correct the problem I reset then reconfigured one of the routers yesterday. Interesting enough, the issue occurs when using clients on either a Windows 10 Machine or my cellphone which is Android. Ah well, I'm sure I'll find the problem if I keep plugging away on Google.
Thanks
Edit: Boy, do I feel stupid. After reading through reams of information in SSH I came across some interesting details regarding Filezilla. I thought in past that I was using this application to connect to the routers and view a graphical representation of files. Turns out I wasn't as Filezilla does not support SCP. Once I figured that out and tried WinSCP, all worked well on the PC. The cell phone was a different matter. Following a little more research I found the application I was using no longer works. No idea why, it just doesn't work. I found another application that does and I'm now happy to report that an SSH connection can be made to either router from either my desktop or cellphone.

Flashed from factory 3.19.32 (150922)
V3.0 r27858 std
no errors
system light and wireless light not on.
Router seems to bog down after 6-8 hrs of steady use.
And of course a reboot is required.
That's not much good.
You need some way to see the output from the dmesg command.
I can't think of any way easier than tenet or ssh.
When I do the following, it pops up saying "processing", and when it's gone (I'm assuming it's done), I don't see anything. I tried both firefox and IE with same results. I'm guessing telnet/ssh it is then?
Admin -> commands -> dmesg -> run commands

idk then use ssh or telnet, its supposed to show like the screenshot above
i enabled telnet, logged in, and tried to run "dmesg" and nothing happened.
maybe it is broken for this router?
i also upgraded to "27944", which also had the same DHCP issue for LAN clients plugged directly into the router.
