Are you in america and bought it from an american supplier? If not then its most likely not the us version.

Just flash the latest beta "factory" image after this you can flash the normal image if you upgrade in future.

Another noob here. I have flashed the router (v11) with 30681, followed all the 30/30/30 reset instructions, but when the router is restarting the WAN light flashes rapidly green, and eventually changes to amber.

However, everything seems to be running fine (at least with my simple set-up of AP wireless).

My question is, is this rapidly flashing WAN amber light something to be concerned about? If it is, how do I go about to diagnosing what's wrong?

Just an update for others. I recently bought a TP-Link TL-WR841N v11.1 (version showed TP-WR841N v11 00000000 on the web interface tough) in Australia and flashed it with the latest DD-WRT build and everything is working fine. I followed this guide (from Step 2) http://greggborodaty.com/installing-dd-wrt-tp-link-tl-wr841n/ and used this build ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/09-22-2016-r30681/tplink_tl-wr841ndv11/ (specifically factory-to-ddwrt.bin).

Hi i have a t-link tl-wr841ndv11 bought from the UK,i tried flashing with the factory bin that does not say u.s and i got an error,should i flash it with the u.s bin,i don't want to brick my router .thanks for any help

To be sure maybe try upgrading the firmware with the International TP-Link file first and then try DD-WRT. http://uk.tp-link.com/download/TL-WR841N_V11.html#Firmware

I tried but I'm getting the 18005 error,I did lots or reading and saw something about flashing via tftp,can I do it with this router and can I point me in the direction of a good tutorial of how to do the tftp flash.thanks

i finaly was able to put on ddwrt on my tp-link tl-wr841n v11 EU model.i first flashed it via tftp with TL-WR841N_V11_150616 ,but i renamed it wr841nv11_tp_recovery.bin (dont know if that made a difference but was folloing a video on yotube).then i flashed it with the latest beta factory to ddwrt bin file for v11 that i downoaded from this site (the file that doesn't say u.s) folowed by the beta tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin (also non u.s file),configued my vpn setting and it seems good but the intenet light is flashing orange but as i said it semms to be working good. thanks for th help
