Hi. I have dd-wrt running on my Netgear WNR2000v3 router. Currently, the router's homepage states that I am running firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/13/14) std.

I've gone through the downloads section in the router database and the latest (at least what seems to me) appears to be "12-22-2014-r25697." I've downloaded the webflash file and then upgraded the firmware to the router through the Firmware Management page.
After the router reboots, according to the homepage, the firmware is still on DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/13/14) std. I tried flashing it again and no change.

Anyone know what's wrong? Is r25697 the latest firmware for my router? Thanks in advance to your help.

WNR2000v3 is special... It only allows you to flash builds of max size 3648 KB.
You are currently running build 23720.

All recent builds can be found at ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/
The Router Database is outdated, don't use it.

Notice the factory-to-ddwrt builds for wnr2000v3 are usually smaller than ddwrt-to-ddwrt webflash builds and fit within 3648 KB. Webflash builds are usually larger than 3648 KB, that's why it can't flash. Read more in the thread: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=968787#968787
Webflash of build 27147 was tested and small enough to flash, 3645 KB.

I recommend build 27506, the last build small enough to fit (3633 KB) and also without major bugs: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/07-09-2015-r27506/netgear-wnr2000v3/
FYI, builds 27600-28072 are all buggy, see the changelog in my signature. Builds 28112-28211 would be OK, they are not buggy, but their size is too large (3653 kB).

Is your version suggestion still 27506 for the WNR2000v3?
Thanks!

From what I understand from above, use version 27506 to get onto dd-wrt, then you should be able to upgrade using the webflash file to the latest, located in the ftp site in my signature.

Most of my routers are currently running 33215, as 33257 is buggy.

I know factory to dd-wrt build is small enough for 31899 and 32597. I had good success with my routers, I don't own a WNR2000, using 31899. I believe 32597 may have been a bad build, read the build thread here on the forums first. Personally, I don't remember running that one.

I Can also confirm this. Works fine.

I just tried to flash 32597. While it appeared to flash without error. The router rebooted and I was still on 29837. Not sure why.

cause file size is too big for the WNR200v3 tiny 4 MB flash space
All recent builds you will find are too big.

I've found none of the webflash files for the WNR2000v3 after the 06-06-2016-r29837 to be small enough to flash to this router. Sad

Need to figure out how to reduce the size. Are there any tools to unpack the binary to delete anything: possibly additional language files, etc then repack?

Needs to be <= 3,648KB in size instead of 3,725KB of the latest 09-09-2017-r33375. Not sure if there's ~80KB that could be safely removed.
