Hi All,

Just wondering which beta build is best to install on the above router, the router database version has issues with 5Ghz wifi and wifi security not working.

Looking around on the forum I have seen people using dd-wrt.v24-27413_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega.bin but I was wondering if anyone has used any newer builds?

Thanks in advance for any help...

My experience with the said beta didn't go well. The problems I experienced was I had to reset and go into cfe server run the mini build to use a working firmware but the mega build just didn't work with issues and in one case i had to open up the use a mini usb cp2102 to and tftp the original firmware just to put the mini version back on, but on a side note i had been using toastman build in the very beginning that has the dual band that works very well. Now you may not experience the same issues as i had. The F7D4302 is a very good router it's a shame that openwrt, cerowrt and other open source won't put some firmware towards it, i'd like to test it out but i think there are too many variables with broadcom drivers and that keeps it in the shadow however maybe they might? Tomato works excellent for this one and the betas well that is all work in progress with user feed back.

So what would be your advice with this router? Go to Tomato? Or use a different build (if so which one)?

My major issue is at the moment on the router db version I cannot get 5Ghz working or get WPA or WPA2 to work (no ssid is broadcast, with no security the ssid is broadcast)

I've had success with both tomato(toastman&shibby) and dd-wrt however the mini builds those never failed me just those mega builds started giving issues just recently at the beginning of November end of October. The dual band worked very well on the mini version and the qos doesn't work to well either, and it doesn't have usb support on the mini version so hopefully someone might be reading this post to let the developer know that there are issues with installing the mega build, wrong firmware type the error message said, on the last attempt i used a tftp after i had to bring it back from a soft brick, I'll give it another try later today and report on this thread. If your stay with dd-wrt go with the mini if you have the proper devices to fix your router in case things go really south great but normally you should be able to recover from installing one of those beta mega builds. toastman works pretty good i don't have the proper links to share right now but let me know i'll post them.

I have managed to get dd-wrt.v24-27413_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega.bin build installed and working... so far no issues with both bands working... although my wireless speed is 10mb less than the wired connection...

taking the earlier build at least worked for you great. how far away are you from the router, and what band are you connected to? Does you wireless card support dual bandwidth or 2.4ghz only?

instead of using 5ghz use the 2.4 channel adjust it to 20 and then set it to a channel that isn't too populated either 1,6 or 11. the 5ghz is great but isn't as strong as 2.4

I wasn't able to install the mega build r28374 from original belkin firmware from the Gui and when it looked as if it had flashed light was blinking green then stopped and I wasn't able to do anything with the router but recovering isn't a issue normally. I return to the cfe server installed original firmware and installed toastman mini build then to the toastman ext build, for now I not sure if i'd recommend the newer builds but you are welcome to try them maybe your results would be more positive than mine.

Anyone having latency issues with this router? I am using it as an access point and amidst struggles restoring it from bricks between flashes every once in a while, I have this happening. This is pinging it wirelessly over 5ghz 5 feet away on an unobstructed channel.

Same results with Tomato or DDWRT.

Edit: appears to only be an issue with certain intel wireless cards 7260 and 6100. Weird.

Did you try to do the tests further away?(15yds or so) The defaults for those pwr settings are way to high maybe you should adjust a bit down to maybe 28 and run more tests. I have used the dd-wrt firmware before and found that you have to adjust those settings and a couple more like the interference, chanim_mode also to get to work at optimized settings for your environment. I find tomato is more customized able for wireless radios in ways that dd-wrt is able to do but easier instead of go through the cmd lines setting the nvram.
