General guidelines mention "Know your SoC manufacturer". I'm guessing that mine is MediaTek (Buffalo Tech WHR-300HP2D), but what does SoC stand for? It's not explained anywhere.

Thanks, and sorry for the interruption!

SOC = System on a chip and it refers to the primary chipset in the router. The primary chipset can be determined by looking at the supported devices wiki, where it is listed as one of the columns.

SoC - A system-on-a-chip is a microchip with all the necessary electronic circuits and parts for a given system, such as a smartphone or wearable computer, on a single integrated circuit (IC).

Thanks, folks!

I especially want to agree with the "Give a man a fish/Teach a man to fish" distinction;-)

However,I guess my original guess of MeediaTek was wrong - since there's no FOrum for them, and when I look in the database all I get is SOC Sad

Very frustrating so far.
