Did any of you guys get IPv6 working with this?
All the info I could find on IPv6 is several years old (incl. wiki) and for much older builds of dd-wrt. Do you still need to use start scripts and radvd configs to get it working or is it baked in by now?
It sounds like wifi (both on 5ghz and 2.4ghz) are OK so far? What about firewall rules and port forwarding? Any issues around port forwarding stuff or enabling filtering/fw rules to block P2P, keywords, etc?
Sounds like there are issues with USB still and potentially eSATA... I don't use those currently so those aren't as big of a deal. I'm more concerned about the stability overall and would love to hear thoughts from those who have installed this and have been running it.

I couldn't wait and ended up just loading the DDWRT firmware lol. So far so good though I noticed the throughput seems lower than with what I was getting with the Netgear firmware. I recall consistently getting speeds at over 100Mbps down and easily up to 150Mbps over wifi/5g. Now I'm getting around 75Mbps down max. I did setup access controls on the router but it's a very simple ruleset to block P2P/torrenting (well, as much as possible).
Haven't tried out USB/eSata yet.
EDIT: WHOA! I just enabled single and multi user beamforming and noticed a dramatic increase by around 25Mbps or so. Just ran Speedtest and got 94Mbps down! Not sure if there are other options I should mess around with... I am noticing the issue with only one USB port working. For me, it looks like "USB 1" isn't recognizing anything but "USB 2" is. Doesn't look like there's any support for eSata in DDWRT either, at least in this particular context.

The latest Netgear firmware 1.0.2.4 has the option of using this r7500v2 as a bridge. I tested that out and it really worked well even connecting to an Asus RT68U with Broadcom chip. I just wonder if kong firmware will allow this Netgear to be used as a repeater bridge. I know there is a difference between Broadcom and Atheros set up for repeater bridge. There is a thread for it. _________________ Netgear R7800(2), R7500v2(2) WDS, Asus RT-AC68R (2)

Esata and both usb ports have been working before as i ran benchmarks with those before. Will check it next week _________________ KONG PB's: http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/

Just want to share some results:
1. Netgear r7500v2 with OEM firmware 1.0.2.4 set up as a bridge has no problem to connect with internet access to Asus RT-AC68U router.
2. Netgear r7500v2 with Kong latest ddwrt, set up as a repeater only worked for 15-20 second and then disconnected. This replicated the results in the the Atheros repeater thread.
3. set up r7500v2 as client routed with vap for both ath0 and ath1. Tried various settings, none of which works.
4. Would assume that r7500v2 with Kong firmware will work fine as router. May be repeater with r7500v2 requires same chipsets for router and repeater.
5. There are reports that several people have same problem in the repeater bridge thread. _________________ Netgear R7800(2), R7500v2(2) WDS, Asus RT-AC68R (2)

Does this build include support for OpenVPN access as a client? I want to route all traffic from my r7500v2 through a VPN. From reading the ddwrt website, it seems like for many builds I'd need to specifically download a version that supports that.

@tatsuya46, I did read very carefully your instructions about setting the repeater bridge for Atheros router. Did not work though. But I was not doing it with the same wifi chipset, i.e. Broadcom vs Qualcom-Atheros. May be, it will work if the router and repeater have the same chipset. _________________ Netgear R7800(2), R7500v2(2) WDS, Asus RT-AC68R (2)
