Since there is no thread for this router (only found for the A1 model https://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=283908), I'm starting this one ...
More info about the router: https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/d-link/dir-860l

I'm currently running latest DD-WRT 01-16-2016 r28846 dlink-dir860l-b1, it looks ok.

The problem I see is 5Ghz range and performance, and actually performance in general is not great with DD-WRT. Do you have build to recommend which works best with this router?

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem, the wifi performance is very weak with DD-WRT... Do you have a solution for that? Or what firmware what you use and the wifi is working well?

I didn't have time to solve performance problems on DD-WRT. I've switched back to default firmware v2.03 from D-LINK. Stock performance is not that great although it is not bad. The router is stable with stock firmware but I miss DD-WRT features.

I've attached default settings that I detected using WifiInfoView. Plese share successful wifi config on DD-WRT...

Latest FW at the moment: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/05-19-2016-r29739/dlink-dir860l-b1/

OK, I try it...

I want to replace my firmware because the stock firmware is very unstable in my opinion... Before that I used a very cheap TP-Link router but I haven't got any problem with it.

I use DD-WRT for a week, firmware build june 02. (r29816) and I'm satisfied with it. This is much more stable than the original firmware. I set the wireless channels and the transmit power for the optimal signal quality (maybe someone can find a little bit more better), I attached a picture of it.

The only disadvantage is the signal strength is not so good as the stock firmware (now I get -39dBm for 2.4GHz and -62dBm for 5GHz, and the router is only 20cm far from my computer). And sometimes the connection slows down seriously, but this was present with the stock firmware too (maybe overheating problem?).

Using: D-WRT v3.0-r30260 std (07/20/16)

DIR 860L B1 is easy to reset if you brick it. That is great!

5GHz band (with DD-WRT) is working very, very bad. After some minutes I cant find the 5GHz with my iPhone, even close by the router.

2,4GHz band (with DD-WRT) works OK.

I use DD-WRT for firewall and logging, not for speed!

2,4Ghz:
Mode: AP
Network: Mixed
Channel: 3 + 7 (2422 MHz)
TX Power: 100 mW
Rate: 300 Mb/s
Encryption: Enabled, WPA2 Personal

5GHz:

Mode: AP
Network: Mixed
Channel: 124 + 120 (5620 MHz)
TX Power: 100 mW
Rate: 867 Mb/s
Encryption: Enabled, WPA2 Personal

Any recommended firmware, the latest beta 9/9 is somewhat buggy in the 5 GHz on my wireless ac computer. Although it is quick on my laptop (full ISP speeds) in wireless n mode.

Any better more stable DD-WRT for this DLink DIR-860L B1? 5Ghz Wifi disappears often and has very poor performance, while 2.4Ghz is pretty good.

If anyone has any config that works well, please post!

The stock firmware works ok, and so does OpenWRT. OpenWRT is a bit weaker throughput however, but nowhere near as bad as DD-WRT. I'm running the 11/1/16 build of DD-WRT currently.

Hello fellow owners.
I have been trying quite a few different beta builds for the DIR860L B1, basically one or two from each month of 2016.

I even went to OpenWRT but it suffered from exactly the same issue.

The 5Ghz network is visible after the setup (the entire flash process being boot the unit into recovery mode, flash factory_to_ddwrt, clear CMOS via HW reset button, webflash the beta ddwrt release) but as soon as the first client authenticates the 5Ghz SSID drops off and does not re-appear.

Issuing ifconfig down and then up on the ba0 interface brings the SSID back for a while but the same issue plays out again.

When the ba0 interface fails, the dmesg keeps reporting the same interrupt issue all over again:

Code:
Dec 16 13:53:25 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 14:01:55 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 14:10:03 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 14:22:20 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 14:27:20 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 14:35:42 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 14:43:02 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 14:46:56 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 15:03:39 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 15:06:25 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 15:24:21 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!
Dec 16 15:27:39 DD-WRT kern.err kernel: Spurious GIC Interrupt 64/72!

There is mention of a .dat file being used for the 5Ghz interface:
Code:
Dec 16 13:29:03 DD-WRT kern.info kernel: read ralink eeprom from 0 with len 200 to c0e916c6 (device 2)
Dec 16 13:29:03 DD-WRT kern.info kernel: card 1 uses /tmp/RT2860_pci.dat

I've cat-ed it but would not know what to look for in there, I can only tell that it contains variables for the 5Ghz interface.

If any of you got a working /tmp/RT2860_pci.dat, please share.

From what I can gather of the error output, it appears this might be a driver issue that results in improper interrupts to the CPU cores when the 5Ghz device goes up.

The issue is 100% consistently reproducible on my unit, so I am open to new ideas where and what to look for as well.

Thanks.
