Hi,

So I want to try and flash DDWRT on my TP-LINK TL-WR941ND (FCC TE7WR941NXV6).

I know there is no firmware available because a router has not been donated, could I remotely "donate" my router for experiments ?

Thanks

I mean, is there a way I can help with experimenting on my router to help other people let there work.

I have Linux experience and networking too, but I never hacked firmware's, if there is someone that can somehow give me firmware's to test or tell we what to do , I would be glad to help.

are you familiar with TFTP and serial recovery procedures? if you want I can try to change a header of an existing build of another model, but you may easily brick your v6 device with such a build

I fear not Wink hahah

Just tell me what to do, if it works, everyone is happy, if not, well... not big loss here.

I've tried a recent build on this, 29739.

Wifi seems fine, but none of the ethernet interfaces (WAN or LAN) appear to be functional. The issues appear identical to a similar set of problems for the TL-WA901ND v4 this thread - not surpising as they share a CPU and the firmware they are trying is a header-modified version of the one I've tried.

There is an OpenWRT patch to add Ethernet support to the Qualcomm SOC on which the TP9343 CPU is derived; I'm wondering if there's anything from that which could be leveraged to get this device working.

There is also a stripped firmware (no bootloader) here that can be used to revert to stock, if flashed via the Telnet or SSH interface. I haven't tried it yet.

I'm happy to feed back information from the device I've got, if anyone needs to narrow down the issue.

Ethernet is broken on WR941NDv6 / WR940Nv3, causing the same issue for the modified WA901NDv4 build I made:

I modified the header of the DD-WRT 29739 factory-to-ddwrt build intended for TL-WR941NDv6 / WR940Nv3, so it will flash on the
US version of TL-WR941NDv6 / WR940Nv3 running stock TP-Link firmware.
If the attached build works for you, it can be further updated with any newer-than-29739 webflash build for WR941NDv6/WR940Nv3.

If you have a Worldwide/International/UN/EU version, use the official build from ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016

Important: Please read about the ethernet issues described here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1033565#1033565

Disclaimer: I haven't tested the attached build myself, so I'm not responsible in any way if you brick your router.
Please only flash this build if you know how to unbrick it.

Note: You must be logged in to be able to download the attachment.

Hi Kryptex,

I got WR940N V3 with FCC ID: TE7WR941NXV6, is this a US version? Im unsure if i can use your modified version.

I really love to get my TE7WR941NXV6 working with DDWRT.

Thanks,

You should first try the Worldwide/International/UN/EU WR940Nv3 build from the official DD-WRT repository, e.g. build 29739:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/05-19-2016-r29739/tplink_tl-wr940ndv3

Notice that the WR940Nv3 files are the same (just named differently) as those in the WR941NDv6 build:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/05-19-2016-r29739/tplink_tl-wr941ndv6

If it gives a 18005 error, it means you have a US version (it should be written on the label found on the back of the unit) and you can use the 29739 build that I modified with the correct US header, attached here:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1037665#1037665

My WR940N V3 is an international version one.

I flashed mine with the official DD-WRT repositories, but none has been working out for me so far.

No LAN, no WAN. WiFi is working tho, FYI.

I flashed my router successfully but the functionality is extremely limited and I want to revert back to the TP firmware but everytime I flash the factory firmware and stripped version it does not take. Any suggestions would be appreciated. My current version of dd wrt is r30082.
