- Upgrade to Factory-to-DD-wrt.bin FIRST
- Upgrade to tl-wr940ndv3-webflash.bin
Now, your router will work, but only in Wi-Fi.
To make Ethernet usable, you need to go (with Wifi) in the Web admin page, Basic Setup > WAN Connection Type > Connection Type > Disabled
Voilà ! Your ethernet ports are working
We need to figure if we can make WAN functions usable without bugging the ethernet switch though.
Had the same problem as you all, with a freshly flashed WR941N V6 using 2016-12-15 build and got locked out (ethernet wasn't working).
I disable the WAN connection from Basic Setup > WAN Connection Type > Connection Type > Disabled and now everything works properly
Please do note that I use the router as a switch / AP, therefore this tweak may not work for you (if you need the WAN port)

Hey, guys, from Russia with love
I have working Tp-Link WR941ND V6 with OpenWrt!
Ok, step by step:
1)Extract attached archive.
2)Change you IP and Mask on your Ethernet interface
IP: 192.168.0.66
Mask: 255.255.255.0
3) Run tftpd32.exe as Administrator
4) In tftpd32 windows change "Server interface" to your ethernet adapter.
5) Switching off your router and hold down the Reset button on the back of the router and switch it on again.
6) After this tftpd32 load firmware "wr941ndv6_tp_recovery.bin" to your router.
7) Now you have stock Tp-Link firmware, ok.)
In tp-link web-interface choose attached OpenWRT firmware "openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr941nd-v6-squashfs-factory.bin".
9) After in OpenWRT interface upgrade your firmware by attached "openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr941nd-v6-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin".

I purchased this TP-Link today and tried unsuccessfully to install DD-WRT on it. I tried the international version, then the US version and both returned a 18005 error.
I then tried to simply upgrade the firmware with TP-Link's latest and got another 18005 error.
I went to TP's Canadian site and downloaded a firmware update from there and it worked. So there is apparently a Canadian version too.
Can someone help me with installing DD-WRT on this router please...
Thank You
Jody

The above worked for me on my TL-WR940N V3.0
I contacted TP-Link to confirm the model is US or EU and by giving them the current TP-Link firmware, they confirmed it was EU.
One note: After disabling the WAN port, I still couldn't connect via ethernet on 192.168.1.1 and the connected laptop wasn't being given an IP. I simply disconnected from the LAN port and reconnected, and then was able to connect.
Not ideal to have no LAN LED flashing etc, but that's purely cosmetic as far as I'm concerned.
Remember also (and don't get confused) that the tl-wr941ndv3 ("us") has Atheros AR9132 for the cpu and AR9132 + AR9103 [both bgn 3x3:2] for the wireless.
I got an issue with the dd-wrt flashed WR940N:
I flashed it with the help of this topic and it worked well for me, but i wasn't able to establish a VPN Server, as there is no Openvpn Service in the software.
I disabled the standard Wifi, because the LAN Ports worked when i disabled the WAN Port.
So now, it was late in the evening, i enabled the WAN port and all of a sudden i was locked out of the router. No access possible, 'cause LAN and WAN ports are'nt working anymore. Wifi is disabled and can not be enabled when pressing the Wifi-Button outside of the box.
Tried telnet as well, but without any IP there is no way. Arp table is empty, so it doesn't seem to connect to the router. The 940n wasn't the DHCP server so i disabled it also in the dd-wrt menu.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you guys!

I try TP-Link firmware, not working ?
How i can get ?
Thank.
So, I have 941nd v6. Playing with it i have "upgraded" with the latest TP firmware aparently for US region.
Router works fine, except there is no channel 12 i 13.
My network is a bit specific, and all devices must run on channel 13 which is forbiden in US....
Problem is, I cant downgrade OR push custom build from this site.
Message is all the time bad file "name". For all firmwares. Any ideas because i cant change rest of network.
