if the wireless page is missing, the atheros card was simply not detected.
i dont understand why a firmware size of 3.4 mb would be a problem. i see no reason for it
The official firmware "dd-wrt.v24_atheros_wifi.bin" have 3.6MB.
The one that have 3.4MB is "dd-wrt.v24_atheros-wifi-9120_crippled.bin".
That is why I would like to have a mini version of "dd-wrt.v24_atheros_wifi.bin", if possible... _________________ Netgear WNDR3700 v1 | DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/19/15) std - build 26947M
The "dd-wrt.v24_atheros_wifi.bin" (3.6MB) doesn't work.
I'm using the "dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin".
I don't know if the atheros_wifi version is a standard one, if not I would like to have a standard version it, and if is not possible because of its size, then a mini version of it...
I wish somebody here could identify a BCM94321MP card that fits this router. I've read some of the posts that suggest that there is such a beast so why the big mystery?

Btw. I just flashed
TNG dd-wrt.v24-9697_VINT_openvpn.bin (full size, not typical mini version) which has 3.4MB. Did this in different way than normal ("write dd-wrt.image linux" in ssh shell) - but i'm sure that through web gui it could be upgraded also (belkin has ~3.5 memory limit - could anybody verify this 3.4 build works by gui method?)

Oooh, one more thing. What is the exact firmware to install for this Atheros on the F5D8230-4? Links help.
You should use dd-wrt.v24_atheros_wifi.bin, but you still have to wait a few more time, because BrainSlayer change it to work this router, but the version on the Download page is not the newer one...
I have it, but I don't know if I can share it... _________________ Netgear WNDR3700 v1 | DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/19/15) std - build 26947M
atheros "9517" 3688k in size did not work, the std "3688k" doesn't either, but the std-nokaid 3488k does. Is there anyway we can get that atheros firmware size down just a hair? an atheros nokaid possibly? Update: found an atheros build 9061 thats 3548k, it flashed and interface works, but it is missing all of the wireless menus. Update2: atheros build 9120 is the ONLY version that works BUT it doesn't appear to support 40Mhz channels or N.
Try please this one and report. It is based on 9120 build. I just removed Sputnik, Chilspot and NoCatSplash.
Good luck.
I have a question...I am current using this router with the Linksys firmware on it and I'm going to upgrade my wireless mini pci to AR5416. Do I have to reset my router to factory to install this firmware or can I use the Linksys firmware upgrade interface to install this firmware? Thanks.

Hi guys, I know there's still some questions about what wifi card to buy to get this working, so I thought I'd outline what I have and how I got it working.
Followed these steps, from the beginning:
-Opened the router up and removed the airgo minipci card
-closed the router, flashed it with the generic broadcom v24 firmware, mini version ( dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin )
-checked to see that I could connect to the router over an ethernet cable, which I could, so went on
-hopped on ebay and bout a broadcom card, specifically the BCM4306KFB 802.11b/g minipci wifi card. (Here's a link to another from the same seller I got it from on ebay. You can also just search for BCM4306KFB)
-opened the router up again, slid in my new card, and boom everything is working great.
Hope this helps someone.
PS you should also just be able to go onto ebay and search for like "broadcom 802.11 mini pci". Don't worry about them saying it's for a laptop, it should work in this router.
No need to flash mini anymore,
Just try the TNG VINT builds - they are less than 3.6MB, for me update works in ssh mode (after mini version).
And one thing - no need to remove airgo, flash, insetr bcm - you can flash just after replacing airgo...

Got my card in the mail today from Hong Kong. I'm ready to install but need the right FW version.
