Hello everybody,
so I bought a TP-Link Archer C7 v2 recently and immediately flashed an alternative firmware because the original one is ugly af.
I did not found the C7 in the routerdatabase of DD-WRT so I used OpenWrt.
Now I realised it is complete bullshit as simple Port Forwarding and DDNS does not work at all.
I found this source now:
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/04-25-2016-r29519/tplink_archer-c7-v2/
Which one do I have to use to go from OpenWrt to DD-WRT? I guess it is "tplink_archer-c7-v2.bin" as I am not on stock firmware anymore, right? Just want to be sure.
Btw. does the DD-WRT for the C7 v2 support 5GHz properly?
You have revert the router to TP-Link FW first.
From the original FW you do 1-st flashing the factory-to-ddwrt. Pay attention what image to use:
If you have US firmware, use factory-to-ddwrt-US.bin
If you are in Israel - factory-to-ddwrt-IL.bin
Other world - factory-to-ddwrt.bin
All next updates you should use tplink_archer-c7-v2[-XX].bin respectively.
So I finally did it now.
OpenWrt even fucked up the process to the factory firmware so my router bricked. I had to de-brick it with TFTP, the "How To" on the OpenWrt website for this is wrong by the way, so I figured it out myself. (the IP and filename has to be different)
Now with DD-WRT everything works, best ever.
