Hello,
Would you please assist me with setup and troubleshooting tips to get my PPTP link from a Windows 8.1 computer to my DD-WRT (build 22750)?
I'm new to setting up DD-WRTs so if something obvious is missing from what I mention please let me know, I really don't know what is required. Here's what I have done so far:
Services ==> VPN ==> PPTP Server Enable
DNS1 192.168.11.1
DNS2 8.8.8.8
MTU Tried default 1436 and 1000
MRU (kept the same as MTU)
Server IP 192.168.11.2
Client IP 192.168.11.50-99
Chap Secrets
[my username] * [my password] *
Security ==> Firewall ==> Tried both disabled and enabled
Setup ==> Basic Setup ==> Local IP 192.168.11.1
DHCP Start IP Address 100
After each setting change I apply, save, then reboot.
I've tested port 1723 using shields up and it shows as open. My ISP, Cox Cable, also publicly lists their filtered ports which didn't include 1723 or the GRE Protocol.
Is there a way to test if the GRE protocol is being blocked?
CLIENT CONFIGURATION
Set up a new connection or network ==> Connect to a workplace ==> Use my internet connection (VPN) ==> Internet address [My WAN IP Address]
Properties ==> Security ==> Type of VPN : I've tried Automatic and PPTP both have the following results:
When connecting I am prompted for username and password
When on the network locally I am able to connect. I receive an ip address ending in .50
When I remotely connect I receive Error 619 and the connection fails
