I have put build 24461 on my wndr3400 and everything seems to work fine except the time. It's always 4 hours ahead. I tried putting in a time zone that is 4 hours behind me, but that didn't work. I tried the date command in the setup page and that fixes things only temporarily. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Why won't putting in a time zone 4 hours behind mine fix things?
GreyDoc, the 3400 isn't even listed there. Which firmware on that page would work for it?
By the way, I've tried 2 other dd-wrt versions for this router in an effort to fix the time and I could get neither to even work for me. They are the kong2200 dlna version and 28493. With the latter, I could not even get an SSID to show up, and with kong, the Wifi was extremely flaky at best.
Anyone have any suggestions for a firmware that works with wndr3400 that doesn't have serious issues? I need at least both bands to work reliably and also the USB port. Everything works great on 24461 except the time.
jwh7, thanks for pointing out where to look. I downloaded both the 29739 mini and the mega for the wndr3400. First I tried applying the mega. But even though the browser window said the update was successful, I was back to 24461. So I tried the mini version. Same thing. Says the updating was a success, and there is a message telling me to wait while the router reboots etc, but afterwards, the router is still on 24461. I have no clue why or how to fix this.
Any ideas why? Any ideas of how to put one of these newer builds on the wndr3400? Has anyone out there been able to get their wndr3400 updated to these newer builds?

Did you use K26 or K3x? You used the nv64k builds too, right? First try K26 mini (nv64k) and set "Don't Reset" during the upgrade. Also Ctrl-F5 your DD-WRT GUI browser page to override the cache, just in case. If that doesn't help, try a 30-30-30. (really 30-10-30...) _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#

This version has a bug. It cannot be upgraded/downgraded via web UI. Use tftp or serial method. _________________ [Ramips] Nexx WT3020F Openwrt @kernel #4.14.167 (OpenVPN server, Wireguard server, AD blocking, SQM QOS, USB)

Ah, so the same issue that affected 28444. wget flash from telnet would work then too, right? And easier than TFTP for those who aren't familiar; see here.
Summary @LGM - Log in to telnet (or ssh), 'wget {url/filename for needed firmware}' then 'write {filename} linux'
You could alternatively copy the file over the network using SCP (ssh needs enabled on the router). _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#

Update: I bricked my router! The good news is that I was able to revive it using the pin short method. (A big thanks to Steve Jenkin’s blog for the excellent instructions on how to do it.)
I am back on 24461 (mega, k3.x) now. Out of all the dd-wrt builds I’ve tried (about eight) this 24461 version is the only one that has full functionality for the way I want to use the router – as a repeater bridge with both bands active and the USB port working. Typically with most of the other builds I tried, both radios might work initially, but once I set up in repeater bridge mode, I failed to get the SSIDs to even show up or the 2.4 GHz band was especially flaky.
The issue 24461 has with time is very minor in comparison to the others, so I figured I could just live with it if that’s the only thing not working well. My concern with time is that when using the USB port for backups or file transfers, I found that the WNDR3400 on stock firmware would give wildly wrong file dates if the router’s time was off. However, in testing with 24461, I found if the time is off on the router, files backed up to the USB drive will not have incorrect times. So the Samba server on dd-wrt must do something very different than Netgear’s Readyshare, and my initial concern was maybe unwarranted.
In addition, I can set the correct time by running the date command in the administration tab. The only downfall is that every time the router reboots or loses power, you have to run the command again. But I don’t expect to have to do that often. I typically go months without having to reboot my router.
@h8red & jwh7: I don’t think a bug had anything to do with the upgrade not showing up. Rather I was using the wrong files. I was using “x.chk” files to try to upgrade and that’s why they didn’t take. I was able to successfully upgrade from 24461 once I used the “x.bin” files.
I can’t tell you how happy I am with the wndr3400. I’ve been using it continuously ever since 2011 without any major issues. It’s been rock solid on stock firmware and so far seems very solid on 24461 of dd-wrt. I love the way dd-wrt has allowed me to make it even more flexible with these added wireless/router modes that aren’t even available with stock firmware.
