Hi, newbie here!

I'm trying to get a connection to my recently subscribed VPN service via a dedicated wireless access point, which I would connect via hardwired WAN to my modem.

Having decided to use Openvpn on DD-WRT I though great, just buy a cheap DD-WRT compatible access point/router and get to work on it. So I bought a TP Link TL-WR841N v10 and flashed it with DD-WRT, only to find out that this particular router apparently doesn't work with Openvpn (Openvpn options do not appear, only PPTP).

So I'm faced with 2 options:

1. Find a low cost WAP/router that supports DD-WRT with Openvpn

2. Try to get it working on my TL-WR841N v10. Many say I won't work, however jnjn stated that it can in this thread: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=905380

Does anyone have any advice for either option 1 or 2 above?

(Oh, and I bricked the router whilst trying to flash it with DD-WRT for v9 as I had read that Openvpn works only via the old versions of DD-WRT for this router, but that's a separate issue. I've found a guide to unbricking it using TFTP, which I'll try out later)

Thanks

My suggestion for option 1 is to look for router that has at least 8M of flash. Check the Support Devices List: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices

Thanks js1662, that's what I've done now and have ordered a Linksys E2500 since it's one that Nordvpn (the VPN service I've signed up to) offer through their partner Flash Routers. They sell it $149.99 with Tomato preinstalled, I've bought it for GBP £31 elsewhere.

Now, to research on installing DD-WRT / Tomato on the E2500.
