Is there another model number that this router falls under?
The "Router Database" link is on the www.dd-wrt.com home page, and the Support tab says this:
"In the beginning most users would like to know if their routers are supported by DD-WRT and what firmware files they need to download on order to install DD-WRT. For such requests the router database is the best place. You can easily search by manufacturer, router model and revision and can get the development status and available files (if the router is supported) with a simple click."
Since the getting-started-type support information tells people to use the router database, why is the AC1750 not listed in the router database? Is it just not possible to keep this database up to date, or am I having trouble reading the router database?
I suggest you use the Supported Devices List instead of the router database. Make sure you know what hardware version is your router as very often different firmware is needed for different hardware version. Do a lot of reading to better understand about your router and dd-wrt. The forum as well as the Internet has a lot of information. Also ask yourself why you need to replace the stock firmware with dd-wrt. dd-wrt are feature rich but only if you really need them. dd-wrt do has its limitations and one of them is software NAT which will limit the WAN throughput. If you have very high speed Internet over 100M, you have to think twice.
BTW, C7 is Atheros based so the best place to get more information about C7 is the Atheros WiSoC based Hardware Forum. Also remember to read the Announcement as well as the stickies as they contain many valuable information for newcomers.
I suggest you use the Supported Devices List instead of the router database.
...
Good luck!
That sounds fine.
Can I suggest that pages like http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support be changed, so that they don't tell people to look at the router database?
And can the prominent "Router Database" button that's on http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index be changed to provide this information?
I understand what you are saying, but people looking at this site from its home page are LED to the Router Database.
As a side note, I am a computer programmer by trade, and I do understand that not everyone needs DD-WRT firmware; I was mostly looking here in order to decide which way I wanted to go.
But the site's "how-to" info leads to the router database. IF it's not maintained, then its prominent links shuld be removed, right?
You have as much ability to fix this as anyone who will read your post.... _________________ SIG:
