ASUS RT-N12+: failed to flash using Restoration Utility

I have recently bought an ASUS RT-N12+ (RT N12plus). The sticker says it is HW version A. Firmware version is 3.0.0.4.378.6975. Wiki (https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Asus_RT-N12) says I have to enter "rescue mode" by unplugging power connector, holding reset button and while still holding it, plug power connector back. But instead of power LED slowly blinking on and off, three LEDs (Wi-Fi, Internet and LAN) started blinking while power LED stays on.

Bellow follows what I have tried afterwards, using ASUS Firmware Restoration Utility (version 2.0.0.0) from PC with 192.168.1.10, 255.255.255.0 LAN setup:

1) Flash router with recommended dd-wrt.v24-14929_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_RT-N12.trx - it seems to me that the Firmware Restoration Utility can find the router. It uploads the firmware and displays: "System recovery succeeds! Please wait for system reboot.". Wi-Fi, Internet and LAN LEDs stay off while power LED stays on. After nearly 30 minutes of waiting, nothing have changed, so I have unplugged power connector, waited for 10 seconds and plugged it back. The router started, but on 192.168.1.1 there still is original ASUS firmware (version 3.0.0.4.378.6975) login page.

2) Flash router with dd-wrt.v24-14896_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_RT-N12.trx - same result as above.

3) Flash router with ASUS firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.3590 - shortly after the Firmware Restoration Utility uploaded the firmware, Wi-Fi LED started blinking and after few moments the LAN LED turned on too. So with original ASUS firmware, the flash was successful.

I think that "rescue mode" is (newly?) indicated by blinking of three LEDs (Wi-Fi, Internet and LAN) instead of blinking of power LED.

However, the ASUS Firmware Restoration Utility 2.0.0.0 probably cannot install dd-wrt.v24-14929_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_RT-N12.trx or dd-wrt.v24-14896_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_RT-N12.trx.

Could anybody help me, please?

It is because RT-N12+ is not supported by dd-wrt. It is not listed on the Supported Devices List: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices

RT-N12 and RT-N12+ use different chip and you are lucky that you didn't brick your router by flashing a RT-N12 firmware on RT-N12+

Be aware of the port changes WAN/LAN but with the d1 it fixes itself upon install dd-wrt 2 times and only reverts if have to use WPS button to reset.
You can of course also correct the ports using the CL.

The d1 is supported by Shibby Tomato and works well but I don't see FW for the + so I would be careful with that.

I don't even know what flash the router has but I would start with the
dd-wrt.v24-26125_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin if I were you.

When i look at log, i can see it s using

MT7620N chip.

My question is, can i flash other firmware that use same chip?
