Purchased the WRT1900ACS with the sole intention of running DD-WRT on it.

Sure enough, I got ACS Version 2.

I'm assuming there are hardware differences between this and ACS V1, otherwise Linksys's site wouldn't list different FW versions and specifically warn about not mixing the two up.

With that said, does anyone know if there is a version of DD-WRT that is compatible with ACS V2?

I need to decide whether to keep this router or return it in search of an ACS V1.

/noob
BTW- I saw someone say in another thread that BS is not updating the router db anymore? How come? Where are people to go to find the latest FW builds?

There’s been a few discussions on the newly released wrt1900acs-v2. As of today there is no BS or Kong build for the version 2. I don’t know this for sure but if you are in the US I’m thinking the version 2 is the new FCC compliant revision of the wrt1900 so may not even worth it for the Devs to create a build for it.

As far as the dd-wrt database I’m not sure why it’s not updated other than that fact it has to be daunting task to keep it updated. Generally you’ll see a post here on the forum about new releases with a link to the FTP which has to make the dd-wrt DB Administrator life easier. You have a Kong personal builds FTP for a limited number of selected devices and the BS builds which cover just about every device out there plus the huge archive of old builds which is nice just in case...

Thanks for that!

Since it seems somewhat unlikely that a DD-WRT version will be released for the WRT1900ACS V2, I went in search of an ACS V1.

Luckily, my local Best Buy had ONE on the shelf among all the other ACS V2's.

For anyone else who wants to know, when you look at the UPC on the box, above it there is a 9 digit number followed by Rev. A00 or Rev. B00.

Rev. A00 = WRT1900ACS V1
Rev. B00 = WRT1900ACS V2

Congrads on your find. That’s great that you were able to purchase one, soon they will be finding Hen's teeth.

Great info on that Rev. "B00 = WRT1900ACS V2", I’m sure that info will make its way across the forum and help some people going forward. Good luck & happy flashing

I see that kaloz has updated the mwlwifi driver to include the 1200v2 and 1900acsv2.
I have yet to see any updates on http://svn.dd-wrt.com about it, unless I missed it.

I also have a WRT1900 ACSV2 and have been reading all over the forums about which version to use and I cannot seem to get a definite answer. I have read

ACv1 https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Linksys_WRT1900AC
ACv2 https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Linksys_WRT1900AC_v2
ACS (same hardware has ACv2, but higher clock speed) https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Linksys_WRT1900ACS

So does this mean I would use the ACv2 even though I have a 1900ACSv2?

Any help would be great.

I recently got a WRT1900ACS V2 as well.
Interestingly, the box says 8830-22838 Rev. B00. While the router itself says 8840-00408 Rev. A00. The FCC ID is still WRT1900ACV2. I don't remember exactly the firmware version that came on it, but it was definitely 2.X.X.

I wasn't aware that this was a new HW revision and ended up flashing it to various firmwares as if it were a V1:

    1. OpenWRT's ACSv1 "shelby" 15.05.1 stable
    2. DD-WRT's ACS build
    3. Kong's DD-WRT build
    4. Kong's ddwrt to factory img (which put me on some outdated V1 hardware 1.XX build)
    5. The latest V2 hardware image from linksys (2.0.0.173388 at this time)

I understand now how foolish this may have been, and that I ended up getting lucky in terms of not bricking it.

I would like to point out however that each build I flashed behaved as expected, though I do not condone haphazardly flashing like this without something like a USB-TTL cable in the event of failure.

I'll probably stick with stock for now until more information about V2 is discovered, then maybe go back to OpenWRT.

Just noticed Linksys responded to the difference between the v1 and v2.

Hi, ***,
Thank you for getting in touch with us. We're here to answer the question that you asked with regard to the difference between the Linksys WRT1900ACS router version 1 and version 2.
There are no changes to Setup, UI, or Hardware between the two versions. The only difference in the version 2 is where the Wi-Fi driver looks for the wireless power tables - meaning the v1 and v2 have the power tables in 2 different locations. You will still be able to make changes using Open Source firmware, with the WRT series solely. With regard to the FCC change, it just prevents users from modifying routers to operate outside of their licensed radio frequency parameters. Also be informed that the firmware for WRT1900ACS v1 is not compatible with WRT1900ACS v2 or vice versa. If you will load the wrong firmware, your device might experience connectivity issues.
We hope that we answered your question. Let us know if you need anything else.
Regards,
Linksys Support"

With that release date of the wrt1900acsv2 just after the June 2, 2016 cut off I just assumed Linksys was complying with the new FCC restrictions with the V2 release. They knew is was coming so to their credit they were ready. The upside (if there is one) is it could still be supported by the open source community if they elect to do so. Now over in TP-Link land it’s a little different story....

I just got a WRT1900ACSv2 off of Amazon and it is working great . I initially flashed it with the factory-to-ddwrt.bin from build 09-01-2016-r30534 but I had a few small issues with my laptop's connection so I downgraded it to build 06-20-2016-r29974 which has been running great on my other devices and it seems to be working perfectly now.

I'm running Kong's 8/24/16 build (DD-WRT v3.0-r30465M) on a v2 I had to replace at my grandmother's and it seems to be running fine. The ole 310n bit the dust in a lightning storm.

Expecting another one from Amazon within the next couple days for myself...they went on sale at $159.99 and couldn't pass it up.

Don't really have need for the fast internet speed (I can only get 15Mbps in my location in the woods), but I need something that can process internal traffic efficiently and handle vlans for my ip based cameras.

I tried this on my new WRT1900ACSV2 and the wifi bands (both 2.4 and 5.Cool wont turn on. Ended up having to go back to stock. Not sure whats wrong but I tried rebooting and power cycling numerous times, switching settings etc but the wifi will not work period unless I went back to the stock firmware.

Did you configure specific WiFi channels, or did you just leave it on Auto?

I think the problem is w/ the WPA Algorithms as I was trying to resolve it just now. I just flashed Kongs firmware again and switched the wifi WPA Algorithms settings to only AES instead of TKIP + AES and it seems to be working.
