Got DD-WRT installed, and after much messing around with it and initial disappointment with the lack of any speed increase (after even going back to stock and seeing no speed increase, went back to dd-wrt and accidentally discovered it was the speed test I was using, which was just the built-in google one, tried Ookla one and got my full bandwidth), it is now humming along nicely, for the most part. The one issue I am having is with my wife's phone, it's a Blu Studio Energy 2, with only wireless-n radio, and it connects fine with great signal and is fine for a few minutes, but then internet becomes basically useless, even though it is still connected at full signal strength. We can then just turn wifi off/back on and it works for a few minutes, then useless again. So confused, have tried multiple different channels/configurations on the router, nothing has helped. My phone connected to 2.4 Ghz and laptop which is N-only both work just fine. I also got a wireless-N dongle and plugged it into my desktop and that worked fine too. Any ideas????
Thank you both, will try these tonight! I did use that wiki page to get it where it is now, but will go back through and see if there is any setting I missed on there. Fingers crossed, wife isn't as happy with new router as I am! Thanks again, will update with results.
Interesting, it's something they have probably done recently. I have a couple Mediatek based phones here (like OP's wife's) and they present the exact same behaviour. Other routers seem to work fine. I guess reverting to an earlier build could work, as this seems to be a recent issue.
short preamble: enabled
ack timing: 1350
noise immunity: disabled
does it happen when connected to the main ap?
Settings tested with no luck.
On main aps boths phones works correctly (Cisco EPC3925 & Arcadyan Livebox).
I had the same issue last year with some dd-wrt versions when atheros kernel driver was updated so i think its not a wireless settings problem.
Dont worry about it tatsuya46, Ill wait on r30082 version till the issue be solved.
Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but thought I'd post an update. I ended up working on this for a couple hours last week, and things are working fine ATM, and this is what I did:
Reset to defaults>no change
Downgraded to an earlier build (6/24/16)
Things were pretty much working fine at this point leaving everything at default, so I tried some of the tweaks mentioned here and in the wiki (one at a time), and everything just got worse. So I've attached my current settings.

With this setup (basically defaults, changed 5Ghz channel width), getting ~30Mbps on 2.4Ghz channel, and ~60 (my current broadband speed) on the 5Ghz channel. Anything I've tweaked would make speeds worse, including making channel width 40Hz on 2.4 band. No idea why, but eventually I just decided to leave well enough alone!! Thanks all for the help, maybe this will help someone else.
