I wonder if this means the integration of hardware acceleration for both NAT and the FOSS driver? Perhaps no more binary blobs for the radio firmware?
If so, third-party firmware support for the WRT line should be at a very comfortable place—more than it has ever been. _________________ -NETGEAR X4S R7800

Yeah, up here in Canada the Asus is $600+ in some cases, I only paid $225 for the WRT3200ACM so there's no way I'm doing that

Here is £350 in Scotland. my wrt3200 was £165. money is not an issue (well, sort of ) and i dont mind paying more for something that, for what i've read, is working fine with dd-wrt firmware. lets see what happens in the following days.

Actually, there's a quick/easy mechanism to reset back to the previous firmware - simply turn on/off the hardware 3x and it'll return to the previously loaded firmware.
What Linksys has done with respect to the new WRT routers is provide the ability to flash/swap between images *very* quickly and easily.
IMHO (and as a developer interested in learning, tinkering, and developing for Open Source options for these class of routers, etc.) - this is invaluable from a hardware / testing platform perspective.
It's extremely straightforward and easy to flash once you understand how it works, and while you're learning the ropes of learning how to develop for these routers (like me - a 20+ year veteran developer that's now simply learning something new in my "spare" time to ramp up and potentially start contributing as well ) - it allows the developer to focus on the software - and not get worried about potentially bricking the device if you trip up and do something wrong....
Instead of having to potentially buy and keep one router for active long term use and purchasing another for ongoing testing of changes, etc., you have a "2-in-1" scenario.
No other router (that I'm aware of since I've started reading up on this) supports this ability.
It shows the forethought from Linksys/Belkin in creating and providing a true/valid "development friendly" hardware platform for the community to utilize.
From an ongoing development perspective - this allows the developer to have a "stable" version of their current/running image (or to keep the original stock firmware), as well as the ability to flash a new "development" or "test" version of their image on an alternate partition.
If something goes wrong with the test version you're actively working with - you can quickly, safely, and easily revert back to the stable version with no impact.
If someone is concerned about about keeping the original firmware, all one needs to do simply take time/effort to maintain the original stock firmware on one of the partitions.
Now granted - IMHO - it'd be ideal for Linksys to provide (or at least publicly document) some form/way to easily load and reset the stock firmware in the event you have both partitions loaded with alternate firmwares and you find yourself in trouble. Or if you just want to simply return back to the stock firmware...
But obviously - based on recent updates - the open source community have identified ways to do this as well
I read all 20 pages of this forum and the below is what got me back to factory firmware.
This worked great since I had only loaded the initial DD-WRT file. Just quickly flip the on/off switch 3 times (I let the at least 1 light appear before flipping the switch to off), the router lights will start flashing in ways that are not part of the normal boot up light cycle/pattern. It took about 2-3 minutes for it to finish the process and the router was back at at the last known factory settings (I know this because I had changed the wireless network names prior to loading the DD-WRT r30796 version from 10/26/16).
I will also check back to see when the stable/working DD-WRT is available. For now, it seems the last beta version was on 2/7/17 (r31277).

Router returned, waiting for my asus to arrive tomorrow. Good luck for those who are waiting, i just can't wait anymore.

Router: WRT3200ACM
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r31544 std (02/28/17)
Kernel: Linux version 3.18.48 (root@seg-desktop) (gcc version 6.1.0 (LEDE GCC 6.1.0 r1009) ) #111 SMP Mon Feb 20 00:38:21 CET 2017
Status:Booted OK, LAN and WAN LEDs white
Reset: No reset, applied on top of previous beta using webflash.bin
Errors: Works a lot better, and seems to not degrade over time. One issue I still see, after making some changes to the wireless config to optimize channels and testing for an hour or so, wireless access via an iPhone 5s "stops". The phone is still associated with the AP, but there's no traffic. Looking at the log reveals nothing useful. It may be a phone issue.
When I try running as 802.11ac, I get 98Mbps on the iPhone 5s 2' from unit. From an iPad Pro 9.7, 10 meters away through 2 sheetrock walls, I get 186 Mbps download (I have a 330 Mbps connection).
I've had to restart wifi on the phone twice now. Below is what the logfile says when I have to turn wifi off then on.

-Ambi

I have a ZTE Axon 7, I've had similar issues with both BT and Wifi.
For example, if I leave BT on all the time on the phone, then connect a headset (I've had for years) it tells me it's connected but won't work. If I then disable then re-enable BT on the phone, it connects instantly and works fine.
With WiFi if I attempt to connect Netflix on the phone to my Cast enabled Toshiba (not Chrome Cast, but rather Cast built in) sometimes it shows up on the TV but the phone fails to connect and won't control the TV. Same in Youtube or other apps. I have to disable Wifi, then re-enable it, and it works perfectly after that.
Sucks for a $550 phone to have to jump through those hoops, still better than my older Asus ZenFone 2 that I was using before.

Does 2/28/17 have the recompiled driver? Or are we waiting for the next revision?
Thanks for anyone who knows.
Not available yet. Patience.
Brainslayer relocated the .ko file so here is the driver version info. Maybe this is some prep work for the new driver as he has been working with the Marvel dev.
