Hi,

The settop box needs a 'public' IP, as does the router.

I want to go from the before setup to the after setup.

In other words, I want to eliminate the dumb switch by using (I think) VLAN's.

This is my first VLAN experience, can somebody give me some pointers?

Can I do this by just using the dd-wrt VLAN config page, or do I need to use nvram commands?

Is the virtual WAN switch isolated from the virtual LAN switch (inside the router), or do I need to use some iptables?

Thanks!

Where did you get the information that the Settop box needs a public ip?

It probably needs Multicast.
Don't enable Multicast on wifi, it will choke the router.
This is how a solved on my RT-ac66u:

PS. As your router is Bradcom based, you will answered how to configure vlan on a bradcom in the broadcom forum.

Local forums and experience. It doesn't need multicast. I have another type of settop box then yours. TV comes through cable, as does 2 days worth of EPG. If I want more than 2 days of EPG, or need interactivity (press the red button), then I need the setup as descripted above...

OK, I'll try it there...
