Have a 862L in WDS with a Archer C7, but I noticed that the 5GHZ band is showing as down on Ath1.1 and Ath1 shows unknown channel.
On the primary (C7) I am using channel 149 (per another thread in here)
Both routers are on version 30082.
Another thing I noticed, and I think it has been mentioned before but both the 2.4 and the 5 on the DIR862 show the same MAC addresses.
Interface Ath1.1
Radio Radio is Off
ModeAP
Network AC/N-Mixed
SSID xfaith_5G
ChannelUnknown
TX Power 0 dBm
Rate Disabled
Ath1
Radio Radio is On
ModeWDS Station
Network AC/N-Mixed
SSID xfaith_5G
Channel Unknown
TX Power 0 dBm
Rate Auto
******
So I noticed on the DIR862 in WDS ATH1 that it was set to disabled. Updated that, but still shows the same unknown channel/off.

update 2.
I noticed that my primary router Wireless Sec was set to
still no changes.. guess page by page unless someone knows anything.

we just do it since we do not like any restrictions enforced by stupid cocaine snorting managers
You can extend both bands, except on weird routers like the 862L, which have the same MAC for 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The other routers don't know what to do with that. On my other 5GHz routers it works fine though. 5GHz is much shorter range though so you may need an extra booster in between just for the 5GHz signal. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Yea need to do a heatmap to make sure that they reach other on the 5GHZ band, distance is not to far just so I can fine tune it. Anyone know of some android heatmapping software that works well?
if i use the 5GHz for the WDS do should the 2.4 remove the VAP and should I keep the same SSID as the main routers SSID? I figured I would have to keep the same SSID for the 5GHZ.
Would like to keep it for simplicity but if its better to change it. Still not seeing the 5GHZ tech online.
I ran ifconfig and this MAC address showed for ATh1 00:03:07:12:34:56
On a side note I loaded the newest firmware, and my 5GHZ came back to life, not sure if that was just an issue with the old firmware or what.
So now I can work on the one band WDS.
Sorry to touch an old subject. But I have a DIR-866L which is identical to 862. Looking at your screenshots @xfaith. Both bands appear to be transmitting at 30dBm. My defaults with dd-wrt show 25dBm on ath0 and 16dBm on ath1 on 33006 build. Were your settings default were did you raise your xmit. Maybe @tatsuya46 could even answer this for me. As I would like to increase the power on this unit. Just not sure how well it will handle the heat

Tx power is limited by 3 things, region, hardware and user setting.
If you set the region to Canada (access to most 5GHz channel at highest power), and set the TX power to something extra high, I use 50 dBm, the router will automatically go to the highest the hardware allows, see the status page after making any changes to see what that is.
