I have been running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) std
(SVN revision 14896) for about five years with no substantial problems but recently I have noticed that it drops its signal a few times day. Never while I am using it so that aspect doesn't really bother me much.
Someone just gave me a Linksys EA3500 and I am wondering if it might b worthwhile trying to set it up. I am a bit reluctant because there is no DD-WRT firmware for it.
I see it does have 5 GHz and a half dozen antennas, whatever that means. Curiously enough it seems to get rave reviews from everyone.
But both my router and my firmware are now getting a bit long in the tooth?

For Broadcom, you are advised to try with build 14929. Details in the peacock thread. _________________ If you want support, please read first the announcements and forum rules.

OK Thanks for that, I will give it a try. But does the lack of an answer to my question about the substantially newer router indicate that no one thinks there would be any particular benefit to using it over the older one running dd-wrt?
The Pros of EA3500 over WBR2G54S are 5G plus b/g/n vs b/g at 2.4G only. 10/100/1000M LAN and WAN vs 10/100M for WBR2G54S.
The Cons of EA3500 is that it doesn't has the extra dd-wrt features.
Since you already have the EA3500, I suppose, may be you should just set it up and see how you like it. I think you are in a better position to find the answer to your question as you have both routers.
