Have a WRT1900AC v1 that's running the factory installed LinksysSmartWifi firmware. The firmware flash to go to DD-WRT process appears to go as it should, except that after the router reboots it just comes right back up to the LinksysSmartWifi firmware again. Have tried
resetting the router to factory defaults
Windows box, Linux box
several different browsers

It just doesn't seem to want to run on factory-to-ddwrt.img
Any other suggestions? Thanks ...

Are you sure you have the correct image to use for the router? Since they do not provide any form of check sum you might have a corrupt download. Might try downloading again.

I would suggest you try Kong's if you have not already. Can be found here. Note that the file names include what router they are for.

Here is link to Kong's

Thanks for the tips.

Re-downloading factory-to-ddwrt.img image was something I had already tried before, but forgot to list in my original post.

So I downloaded
WRT1900ACV1_factory_to_dd-wrt.img
from the link you provided. I have a 2nd WRT1900AC v1 that's never been powered up before, so I tried that one too. The DD-WRT firmware flash worked like a champ on the 2nd router with the above DD-WRT firmware, but won't work on my original WRT1900AC v1. Used the same Linux box, network patch cable and router power supply for both.

The 2nd WRT1900AC v1 - the one that worked with the DD-WRT firmware upgrade - was running factory firmware v. 1.1.7.159614. My original stubborn WRT1900AC v1 is running factory firmware v. 1.1.10.167514. Could that be an issue?

FYI, I have FW_WRT1900AC_1.1.10.167514_prod on my WRT1900AC V1 partition 1 and I have no problem flashing DDWRT, LEDE and Gargoyle to partition 2 from it.

Did you try the 30-30-30 Hardreset?

No need for that.

Yes, that is exactly the issue.

You must downgrade stock to v1.1.8.* or below on this router, before upgrading to DD-WRT.

Does anyone have the old version v1.18 I have tried several times to update and my router keeps going back to Linksys. I tried Kong's.Image without any luck. I also tried restoring back and for some odd reason my firmware still reads 1.1.10.167514.

FYI I already did the 30 30 30 rule. This is not the 1st time flashing.

Thank you, please help

v1.1.8 for the V1 is attached... you need to log into this forum to see the download. Good luck!

vnvjeep, you are the best. I managed to go back to 1.18, I then proceeded to upload factory-to-ddwrt.img. The upload worked, I did the 30/30/30 and I am finally running dd-wrt on my wrt1900ac.

Thank you

Really weird how some wrt1900ac v1's need to have the older firmware before you can flash DD-WRT. My wrt1900ac v1 build in April 2014 is on the last/latest firmware and I can flash DD-WRT and Openwrt/LEDE without any issues. Wonder if they made a change to the wrt1900ac v1 in later build runs that cause this.

Also would uncheck "update automatically" in the settings, if you ever run it again for any amount of time on factory.

No probs... I knew keeping this old stock firmware around would come in handy some day. Wink BTW... I have also pretty much kept every single build of Kong's for the V1 since 29020, in case anyone needs one to reminisce.
