Router Model: TPLINK WR1043ND V2
Firmware Version: DD-WRT v3.0-r31277 std (02/07/17)
Kernel Version: Linux 3.18.47 #676 Tue Feb 7 03:07:52 CET 2017 mips

status: very buggy
errors: I set up this router as a WAP, so far so good...
than i've decided to rebuild it as a AP getaway using jffs
USB auto-mount to run a startup script...
So after i redone manually all the necessary settings clearly USB is not mounting linux EXT3, jffs not working...
Another odd thing is after manually rebuild to AP all my devices connected on wired LAN are taking IP as it should
and all WI-FI connected are still taking IP as a WAP, tried few restarts save&apply and so on still buggy it seems i have to erase nvram....
Is there anyone who has a successful USB mount, witch files system did you use?

I have the same unit with three ext3 disks and an ext4 memory stick mounted as /opt with no problem so far.

Just tried /opt /jffs /mnt, all result in this exactly the same not mounted error

Flash back to 29396 and it auto mounts again perfectly

i just tried to recompile with ext2 to try but first it seems that USB is mounted than i can see in syslog:

Jan 1 00:00:29 TPLINK-WR1043NDv2 kern.warn kernel: [ 54.660000] EXT4-fs (sda1): warning: mounting unchecked fs, running e2fsck is recommended

if i type df -h
it says jffs are mounted but 0% in use witch is wrong as i expect my script to DL some files there ..... so it seems ill try another build to confirm its either something messy with jffs or USB mounting in general, its been a time since i ve seen it working, to be honest even USB printer is not
working on this device for a long time

Reset: Reset to defaults with flash procedure; erased NVRAM before and after flash
Notes: Router rebooted itself after about 2 days of uptime; the same problem many are having with this router and similar chipsets.

The LAN-side ethernet ports stop working as a switch due to a long-standing bug: http://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/3736
Code:

swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 1
swconfig dev switch0 set apply

I am running a TPLINK TL-WDR3600 v1 with DD-WRT v3.0-r31277 std (02/07/17)

I am not experiencing this issue at all. however i have noticed my WIFI connections are lagging out quite a bit and i am getting pings all 200ms pings and packet drops to the router over WIFI.. will review configuration.

I did restore to defaults on upgrade

Configuration:
- 3x Wifi 2.4 (1 Normal, 2 Virtual)
- 3 VLAN & Bridges
- 5Ghz Disabled
- USB and NAS Enabled
- IPv6
- Loading Firewall Rules from script on usb
- VLAN & Bridges configured using startup script on usb

Router: DIR-825 rev B
Status: Not OK
Reset: No
Errors: Random disconnects wired and wireless.

Is there a specific log to find root cause?

I did test this On my WDR3600 but only for an hour or so. Reason being was better performace with wifi on 31221 over 31277 I didn't see packet loss though.

I think its due to my vlans and bridging.. when its activated the WIFI becomes unstable and eventually stops working altogether cabled stuff remains unaffected.

Think i'll go back to R31221 shortly

Status: Good overall
Reset: No
Upgraded from 30342
Errors:

High load average and "sys" value in top after a few minutes when downloading via BitTorrent. The router will eventually stop responding and has to be manually restarted. If I throttle my download rate to 2MB/s in my BitTorrent client, the router will not crash.

If downloading the same large file via direct download, I can max out my internet connection at about 7MB/s, without the router crashing (load average and "sys" value in top stay low).

I did more testing today and have found that disabling the 5Ghz radio seems to fix the high CPU spikes and high memory usage.

client+vap @ vht80 is dead on this build, at least for qca9984.

The rebooting issue on my WDR3600 appears to happen when the router is handling multiple devices simultaneously. If everyone is hammering it with streaming, it will eventually crash. The CPU spikes only come up sometimes. When everyone is hammering the router, the CPU utilization stays real low. Then another day I will be monitoring it and CPU usage is through the roof. There is no rhyme or reason. It appears totally random.

If only a couple computers are doing normal internet usage, and file DL, etc., and not all streaming, the router will be up for 4 days straight. So I don't believe that it's necessarily a matter of turning the 5 GHz radio on or off. I shut it off and have had the same problems with this build and prior ones with it on or off.

I think some people are shutting it off and then because of a random variable the router isn't crashing, then they are led to believe through a false experiment that the 5 GHz radio was the issue. What I can surmise is that ath9k is buggy, and the development team doesn't even know where to begin or have the manpower to start tracking down the bug.

Maybe in a couple of years they'll finally find it.

Its a pity there is no way of helping them further, capturing some data to assist them - syslog seems no use

I gave up using my WDR3600 as the main router, I've just come to the conclusion it's just not got the oomph that is needed. So I'm just using it as an AP now behind a pfsense box which I've just built. Another reason is I intend to push all traffic through VPN so it makes sense to gear up with that in mind.

sorry if I strayed a bit off piste guys.
