I am using Asus RT-N18U. Should I attempt Kong's DD-WRT builds?

I read from the readme of his FTP server that they are intended mainly for Netgear users.

Do you want a bricked router? If yes, then use his builds.

There's a reason why the readme has a list of compatible hardware. I suggest you follow it.

That's scary! Thank you, Your Honor! Wink

But I noticed a few actually attempted installing Kong's build into Asus RT-N18U, and got it working.

More than likely they are using old builds which he does not maintain anymore. I do not suggest using them then, as there's a lot of security fixes, etc since then. So, in short...if you want an unsecured router, then use his older builds. Because his builds that he has out now, do not support the n18.

Kong has just released a bigger build number than the generic branch on 26 Mar. That's one reason why I wanna attemp it in my Asus RT-N18U. Smile

New Kong's build: DD-WRT v3.0-r31780M kongac (03/26/17)

When you started the thread it wasn't out yet. And sometime in the next couple weeks BS will put a new build thats a higher number... It goes back and forth and doesn't matter that much.

Thank you, Your Honor! That is exactly the flip side and virtuous cycle of product competition! Smile
