Is there any chance that someone has played around with the ASUS CM-32 cable/wifi modem/router?
The firmware that comes with it, has the ability to enable telnet, but when I login it's completely locked down, and I can't get root access through any of the means that I've tried. Mostly I'm trying to debug the integrated OpenVPN client, because it won't connect and there's no debugging output that goes into the system log that might help me resolve the issue.
I'm guessing it's locked down so tight because of the integrated Cable Modem and the possible interaction that might have with the Cable network, so if someone can verify that for me, then I can send it back, because it's pretty useless to me as is.
I did some hacking around, and I found the des crypt() root password (/etc/shadow), but just trying to telnet as root breaks the connection without even asking for a password.
Can someone give me any kind of pointers on how to pull off the squashfs so that I can make changes and at least load it back, as is?
ANY pointers would be much appreciated in PM, etc.
Your ISP has control of the security due to the integrated modem and they will not let you in.
I use an Arris SB-6190 32x8 cable modem along with Netgear's R7000, R7800, and R8500 routers. I use Kong's
builds as he uses Netgear routers and tests with them. _________________ Segment 1 XR700 10Gb LAN, 1Gb WAN ISP BS
