I'm having an awful time trying to troubleshoot my 2.4GHz network and looking for some advice:
Wired speed = 98 mbps down / 15 mbps up
5ghz speed (in same room as router) = 85 down / 12 up
2.4ghz speed (in same room as router) = 10-40 down / 12 up
Firmware = r32402
My 2.4 band is really erratic, too...it mainly hovers around 20-25 mbps down, but will occasionally jump up to 40 or stall out around 10. I had this experience on the stock firmware, which is why I am trying dd-wrt. I've tried the same settings as Jules13 above (claiming 100mbps on 2.4) with no change. There are not many wifi networks around me.
Surely this router is capable of doing better? I've had it for about 8 months and I could have sworn it wasn't this bad before. I guess it might be defective, but are there any other tricks to try before heading down that path? Thanks.
"Have you got it or is it this file:
ddwrt-linksys-wrt3200acm-webflash.bin"
That is the link for the file I've just downloaded and used to upgrade from an older version of DD-WRT.
It goes to DD-WRT v3.0-r32282 which seems to be the latest version dated 8th June 2017.
Does anyone know why the router database still points to such an old version? I had a lot of trouble with that one such as slow downs and dropping 5Ghz.
I'd already updated it to another newer version I'd found hidden in the forum and that version had already fixed a lot of the issues, it made the router much faster, reduced reboots, stopped speed drops and 5Ghz drop out; it even fixed silly things like making all of the lights work again.
Do you remember where you downloaded the file.
Now my wifi is too slow and the ethernet port are slower than before so sad!
Need an update ))
Thank you
