Hi

I have a D-Link DIR-868l H/W Rev: B1
The firmware is the offical F/W version 2.03.

I am trying to install DD WRT to get to Advance Tomato.
I been told I need to first install DDWRT r27096 first.
(The Guide I am using: https://klseet.com/index.php/242-tomato/tomato-d-link/337-d-link-dir-868l-a1-flash-to-tomato-by-shibby)

It says to get it from ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/05-28-2015-r27096/dlink-dir868l/

However when I try to use factory-to-ddwrt.bin, I get the error Upgrade Failed after a couple of seconds.

On the DDWRT Guide it says, Download a factory-to-ddwrt.bin firmware between 01-20-2015-r25974 .. 05-28-2015-r27096. Open the dd-wrt ftp, select a year and version and finally select the router revision (e.g. dlink-dir868l-reva when HW/ver is A1, dlink-dir868l-revb when HW/ver is B1, etc.)
https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/D-Link_DIR-868L

However there is no revb for 05-28-2015-r27096 or before. Sad

I was able to upgrade it to
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r32170 std (06/01/17)

Any help or advice will be nice.

Thank you

Very likely because B1 didn't exist at the time; which means if you had managed to flash it, it probably would be bricked. That guide is for the A1; you shouldn't follow instructions that doesn't pertain to your rev, as they can be very different hardware. Wikidevi doesn't have specs listed for anything but A1...odd, but DD does. :-/

So you are running DD on it now? It is always advised to avoid flashing between third-party firmware. You should peruse the Shibby Tomato forum for info on the B1. In a quick search, are you sure Shibby supports the B1? The supported Router List page doesn't give a revision, which usually means it is for the first model. And someone else tried to flash it before... http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?threads/dir-868l-b1-with-shibby-tomatousb-132-no-5ghz-wifi.72172/

Perhaps you should stick with DD. Welcome. Razz
Here's the device thread.
