So I've been trying to WOL my iMac 2011 for some time now. I tried so many apps from iPhone to MacOS and nothing has worked.

I'm now running r32170M kongat 6/11/17 and attempted to use the WOL feature. The router identifies the iMac, MAC address, & static IP address. However it cannot wake it up. Some research has showed that magic packets cannot be transmitted via WiFi from another client. Maybe it's different coming from the router?

Anyone have experience with iMac & WOL via WiFi?

I'll try this out soon. But you're probably right, the WiFi card is likely not receiving any power when the iMac is asleep.

It's frustrating because MacOS system preferences has an option of "Wake for WiFi network access" but I'll bet this will only work with a Airport Extreme router.
