Access Point with VPN client

I've got a NetGear X10 (R9000) connected via ethernet to my main router. The X10 is setup as "Wireless Access Point".

I was wondering whether there would be any issue in connecting the X10 to a VPN services as a client. This was all devices connected to the X10 are behind the VPN and all devices connected to my main router are not behind the VPN?

Would that work?
