I have a Cisco WRT54G2 V1 that is in wifi repeater mode.
Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/30/0 micro
I use it to connect to my buildings wifi, then connect it to another router for my own internal network.
For some reason it's getting really high pings to 4.2.2.2 (500-1200ms), but when I restart the device, for the 15-30 seconds the pings are much lower(20-30ms) for at most 1 minute.
I'm a bit lost and tried changing a number of different settings in the Cisco to no avail.

So from your map, you have a WRT54G2v1...not a WRT54G. These things are important (be sure to read the Peacock announcement). Also, you can correct your title by editing the first post's subject.
Your map makes it look like the WRT is connected by wire as an Access Point to the main router, while the Ubiquiti is setup as a Repeater?
I would suggest first updating to 14929, GUI reset, manually setup based on the appropriate mode, and see how that does. Use the default Wireless Advanced Settings to start. _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#

I just updated to the more recent firmware (2010 is the most recent??)
No but it's the "typically recommended" version for the older routers. I'm running a very similar router (GSv6) on 31825 (not newer cuz it's at the in-laws), and many others are use 31899. 32170 should be fine, but I haven't seen a post using micro with it (only mini).
Do not use micro builds 32597 or newer (33006 atm) until someone reports micro builds working in a "New Build" thread; they have problems. For the issue you were having though, I'd run 14929 first for a while to see how it does. _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#

still reverts back to 500-800ms ping times to 4.2.2.2
If you reset the router, you see 20-30ms pings (which is fine where I am) for a few minutes.
You're saying it reverts to constant high ping times, or blips of high ping times? I've always seen the latter, from Windows. You're still set up in Repeater mode...is that really what you need, vs Access Point? What settings are you using? _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#

Has it always done this? Maybe try reversing the 'DDWRT router' and Repeater setups to compare. Or you could try a newer build first, as that would be easier, though I suspect that isn't the issue. And...what about other DNS servers? Though I am almost always pinging 20-26ms to 4.2.2.2. _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#

I tried wrt54gv11 (I could already tell that it was version 1.1 of the hardware, not version 1.0 that i have) and the upgrade failed.
It's a good thing that failed. You don't have a WRT54Gv-anything; you have a WRT54G2. And you don't need a trailed build (which contains a router name); you need the micro_generic, the exact same file name as for 14929. _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#
