Im looking to get a router (I need two) to use as ONLY a wireless access point. I perfer that extra ability to use it as a router some day

Ive found as routers with more or less the latest features and a decent price (since I have to get two) the Linksys WRT1900ACS (162€), the Netgear R7000-100PES (129€) or the Netgear Nighthawk R7800-100PES (191€)

I really dislike the R7800 as it is TOO expensive for two units so unless it is amazing or some shit, forget it.

Its basically between the Linksys and the R7000. The R7000 is my favorite because of the price.

Im open of course to other suggestions for DD-WRT routers that are good wireless access points

if the price is important than get R7000 in other case if i ware you I would ve get R7800 as it is a solid unit with great range and parameters...
check prices on Ebay R7800 trades at quite decent price...
I would bother with Linksys WRT series as they are not that stable with DD WRT like R7000 or R7800...
good luck..

p.s. if you gonna use it as a WAP only TP-Link WR1043NDv2 or v3 will do well too...this unit has a great Atheros WiFi with great range too...sadly those units are hard to find anymore as TP-Link realised v4 and v5 already but they are not DD-WRT ported yet...if you'd need 5Ghz radio than check DIR-862l it has the same SoC like TP-link above, but apart of its ugly shape it has 2 radios and very decent price...

One of the access points Im replacing is a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND. It has worked great.

The DIR-862L isnt avaliable here.

Even if expensive, Netgear R7800 I think is a good candidate as due to the size of the house, range is important.
