Hello to all readers,
May I ask for your help with this Casus.
A link or ref to other articles would be appreciated.
Googling for: Inverter - router - Port Forwarding - Security did not give me a sufficient answer.
Casus:
- We have an offer to install solar panels at Home.
- In the offer is a performance guarantuee if the fitter company can monitor the panels.
- The connection of the inverter to the router will be per cable.
- I will have to open port 222222 on my router for this.
- My paranoid mind lets me think that the software on the inverter can be hacked (as was discussed in the dutch news media: hackers could get access to master/administrator passwords and install software on the inverter)
Question:
- Is it possible to block the inbound traffic (I think it is called like that) on port 222222 and only show the outbound traffic (needed for monitoring the panels)
- Or is this a bad idea that will not work at all?
- Is there a better solution to think of?
Hope my question was clear.
Any help in putting me in the right direction is more then welcome.
