So I just flashed my router yesterday and I love all the options. I'm a noob though when it comes to settings.
Everything is up and running and I have open vpn working with my service. On my wired connections, I'm getting 50 Mbs down, all good there, but my wifi connected devices are only getting 8Mbs. I think there is a setting or a few settings I need to tweak in the router but I'm not sure what they would be. I've been trying to search the forums and not coming up with anything.
Is there a tut i'm missing, or does anyone have any advice?

You should expect to lose quite a bit of speed when using OpenVPN because of the amount of processing power that is handling the encryption.
This is especially true on routers like yours and mine that don't have very powerful processors to begin with.
This speed loss should be across your network unless you have only certain devices using VPN with Policy Based Routing.
My average speeds are:
VPN Disabled 350-400 Mbps
VPN Enabled 28-34 Mbps
I generally get around 34 Mbps on my Desktop PC (Wired Ethernet) and 28 Mbps on my Wireless devices (both 2.4 & 5 GHz).
When it comes to Wireless Settings, the best way to find out what works for your particular setup and environment is just trial & error.
FIRMWARE:OpenWrt SNAPSHOT r8217-2cc821e / LuCI Master (git-18.276.41146-280dd33) MODEM:ARRIS SURFBoard SB8200 ROUTER:Linksys WRT32X USB NAS:Western Digital BLACK 1 TB Hardrive + Startech USB 3.0 External SATA III Enclosure
I think you're right about the VPN, though after going over a bunch of stuff, I think it may have something to do with the devices being android. All of my wired desktops were between 55 to 61 Mbps but all of my android devices which all were wireless were having issues. I ran a cable to one of my Android TVs and it was having the same issue so most likely VPN issue on the server side? After disabling OpenVPN and just speed testing normally, the speeds are much better over wifi, so I'll blame my VPN provider for this one =)
