I have a TL-WDR3600 V1 router that was last updated by TP-Link in mid 2015. Would I benefit from DD-WRT in terms of security? I am asking especially because of the current WPA2 flaw/problem where my router will most likely never receive an official update when this gets fixed.

Thanks

Yes, thank you. I did find it already. My question was rather besides more functionality, would I gain something in terms of security if I use DD-WRT when the last firmware my router received was in 2015.

short answer yes

various security vulnerabilities have been patched and will be patched soon.

most serious is the WPA2 vulnerability (KRACK Attack), which will be patched shortly for all upcoming DD-WRT releases ...

https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/10/severe-flaw-in-wpa2-protocol-leaves-wi-fi-traffic-open-to-eavesdropping/

and it has been added about an hour ago to the latest internal dd-wrt build

http://svn.dd-wrt.com/changeset/33525

just watch out for the next release ....

Ok, that sounds good. Thank you!
I did update and everything works except the wifi on my iPhone is slow. No problems on Android though. I will do some research and see if I can fix it.
