Hello,

I've a network with a WRT3200ACM (Router) and a WAP54GL (AP). Both are running dd-wrt perfectly. Everything works fine but only my "WiFi socket" could not connect to the Router. To the AP there is no problem to connect. Only the Router-WiFi makes the trouble. The settings for the WiFi are the same on both devices.

So what can I do to make it works?

Thanks for any help...

Update: If I disable the WiFi security mode it's working! After that I tried again WPA personal and WPA2 personal with AES, TKIP and TKIP+AES. Set a password (also on the socket) and again the socket cannot connect to the Router but to the AP.
Is there a bug at the firmware?

Is there really nobody who can help me?
There have something to be wrong with the wireless-security.
Is there a way to log the "connection trying" of the socket, so that I can see where the problem is?

I would be really happy about any help!

Thanks!

The WRT3200ACM runs actually r33679. I always keep it up to date, because I hope that the socket can connect with the new firmware... Rolling Eyes

Today i've updated my WRT3200 to r33986 and hoped that my Wifi-Socket device can connect now to the Router...
But still the same problem: It can only connect to it, if I disable the wireless security.
Is there really now way to log it why? Please help me!

Thanks!

I don’t think it’s a wrt3200 or dd-wrt specific problem but here’s something to try that resolved a similar issue for me. First thing to do it head over to your wireless clients and delete the existing SSID(s) for your wrt32000. If you are a windows 10 user it’s under Managed Known Networks. Then go in your phone or whatever other wireless clients you have and Forget/Delete or Remove the existing wrt3200 SSID(s).

Then reset your 3200 to defaults and re-enter your appropriate router settings. For the Basic Wireless setting disable ath2 first and save. Then enter a different SSID names than you have been using for both ath0 & ath1. Then go over to the wireless security tab and enter different passwords for both ath0 & ath1. Once you have your router reconfigured see if you could connect to the new SSID with WPA2 Personal & AES.

Not all but I assume most of us use WPA2 Personal with AES but if that don't work try dropping down TKIP + AES but try WPA2 Personal with AES first. The above worked for me with my EA8500 and over my friend’s house. After we re-established the wireless connection I renamed the SSID back to its original name and put the original password back and it’s been perfect since. Not sure what happened nor do I have an explanation but that is what worked for me. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose.

Thanks for your answer 05dyna. I tried your way (again), but nothing has changed.

If you can read at my first post, everything (and every device) works perfect! Only my WiFi-Socket (device at the picture) can't connect to the WRT3200 with dd-wrt. I also have an WAP54GL accesspoint with dd-wrt, and there is no problem with the socket.

So I think there is a problem with the WRT3200 and dd-wrt.

You could try creating a Virtual Interface (Guest Network) with minimum or no security for your Socket.
Just be sure to enable AP Isolation to protect your network.

Yes I see, you’re correct and I misread it. Sadly if you are correct that's another black eye for Marvell. Looks likes spuriousoffspring came up with a good workaround, hopefully that one will do it for you.

Did you ever find a better solution to this? I have the same model router as you with the most recent firmware and had the same exact experience, maybe it’s something specific to the ACM’s firmware?

I suspect that the socket is based on a ESP chip much the same as most other home automation devices.

Having said that, take a look at the numerous posts regarding ESP8266 devices and similar devices and their inability to connect to 3200's and other routers with the 88W8964 802.11ac radio.

There are a number of workarounds including the no security option, turn off wmm support, use ATH2, etc. but all with drawbacks. Ironically the Linksys stock firmware does not exhibit the same problem.

Not for all devices, but I just turned off encryption and put in mac filtering for all my wifi devices. Not an ideal solution. I may end up swapping out router hardware. If I do I'll probably try tomato.

If anyone has a solution, please post. If I figure it out, I will also. I also found it hard to determine the specific security configuration options from the GUI - felt like my only option was to look at the code.

Please read the post above yours. This issue regarding Marvell devices and home automation wi-fi products has been discussed ad nauseum. Search the forum.
