Thanks J...yeah I shoulda mentioned, I wanted to make sure it'd come back ok after erasing since the previous build was having trouble w/it, but it did fine so then I restored backup.

First mega build since 215 to work on this router, i. e. no boot loop and the update "takes". Has been up for more than nine hours. Subjective: The GUI feels a little snappier.
PS: I love the timeout message on this forum. Still haven't figured out exactly what it is saying.

No issues aside from usual NVRAM reports 256 KB even though only 32 KB is usable. Have to disable ttraff to conserve NVRAM space. _________________ ASUS RT-AC68R: 42954

Only one issue remains for me. NTP still won't automatically get time when running Client Bridge or Repeater Bridge. I have to manually set it with the date command.

This is being used as a Router only, with virtual interfaces. All seem to work fine. The IP address is not 192.168.1.1 and if DHCP Server is used, it does not assign the expected pool. The third Octet is not 1, but the netmask is 255.255.248.0 to cover several subnets. It assigns addresses with a third octet of 1, even though it shows the correct third octet on the setup page. Since I am not using the DHCP server, this is not a problem for me.

Firmware: dd-wrt.v24-33555_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin
Previous: stock Belkin
Status: LAN port and Factory Reset issues. See below
Reset:
Installed dd-wrt.v24-33555_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_f7d4302.bin from stock Belkin via GUI. While testing WAP and client bridge modes, I tried to restore factory settings from menus. Upon restarting router, LAN ports were disabled. Prompted to set up new username and password. Shortly afterwards, noticed wireless passphrase had NOT been erased/reset.
Long reset restored LAN ports and prompted to set up new username and password. Previous wireless passphrase had not been reset.
Next, flashed dd-wrt.v24-33555_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin (generic) via menu without restoring factory default settings. After about a minute or more, it claimed upgrade successful.
Tried flashing dd-wrt.v24-33555_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini.bin (generic) via menu and choosing option to restore factory default settings. Flashing ended instantly and claimed to be successful. Same symptoms as described above.
Unable to upgrade to dd-wrt.v24-33555_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega_f7d4302.bin or downgrade to dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_f7d4302.bin via menu.
I used CFE server to revert back to stock Belkin, and then reinstall Shibby Tomato v132 big build for the moment.

Kernel: Linux 2.6.24.111 #32880 Fri Oct 20 01:13:48 CEST 2017 mips
Status: Using with automatic config dhcp, AP working, Wireless working, all leds look normal. UPnP, forwarding etc all seem to be working well.
Reset: no reset after being on 33492, on 24/7
Errors: None yet. Will update if something comes up.
Errors:Resetting to defaults on k3 builds kills wireless. After resetting the only options available are mixed mode and auto channel. When using the wl command to check the status it says wl driver adapter not found.
When I flash to a k2 build after the k3 build the wireless is still dead until I do another reset. Could the k3 build have some bad nvram defaults maybe?
If I install a k2 build + reset to defaults then install a k3 build without resetting everything seems to work fine. It only messes up when I reset to defaults on the k3 build.

Router: Asus RT-AC56U
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r33555 std (10/20/17)
Status: OpenVPN client issue, otherwise working
Reset: Yes
Problem: During initial boot the openvpn daemon tries to resolve IP address of the OpenVPN server, this fails (probably because wan is not fully up yet). Syslog shows entry "daemon.err openvpn[1016]: RESOLVE: Cannot resolve host address: example.test.com:1234 (Try again)". OpenVPN stays disconnected.
Only when service is manually restarted (e.g. via Services > VPN > Apply Settings) the connection is immediately established. Have there been changes in the way the OpenVPN service is started up?

Also a user of Asus RT-N18U myself.
I telnet-ed into my DD-WRT build 33555 as root, and ran command "ps" to list all running processes. I found both "process_monitor" and "inadyn" in the list.
I suspect that they are started during boot-up, but without leaving log entries in kernel log.
