Hi All

I have a issue with the 2.4ghz band and the 5ghz band conflicting.

I have setup my router with ddwrt as described here https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater and all works well. I have set this up before on 4 other routers the same way and never had a problem.

I am using the same modem I have been using for several years and ever time I have done this I have never had a issue.

The issue is that the modem sees the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz as two separate networks, it then gives them the same IP so they then conflict and it blocks the 5ghz band.

The modem is a fritzbox 7490 and the router is a trendnet TEW-824DRU running dd-wrt r34311.

Has any one got any ideas.

Thank you in advance for all help

Connect only one of the interfaces to the upstream router.

Tried that

I disabled the 2.4 side and it dropped the whole lot it would not connect to the modem.

If I have to disable any, I want to disable the 2.4 because the router and the modem are ac1300 and I would like keep the network up at ac speeds.

So I would like to get the 5 side working if possible.

I did notice that the two different bands have two different MAC address

The 2.4 has the wan / wireless Mac
The 5 has the lan Mac

Is this normal

You don't have to disable any interface.

Configure one as client that connects to the modem and the other as AP for client computers to connect to.
