Hi,

I have a question regarding WDS in recent DD-WRT build.

It seems that something has changed that makes WDS unusable in Broadcom hardware.

Tested routers:

- WRT160N v1 BCM4703
- WRT160N v3 BCM4716
- E1000 BCM5357
- E1200 v1 BCM5357
- E1200 V2 BCM5357

I can't setup working WDS network with recent DD-WRT build up to 35927 - WDS does work only with disabled encryption. When I try to use WPA/WPA2/WPA Mixed combined with AES/AES+TKIP/TKIP (I have check may combination including WPA2/AES) it does not work at all, there is no connection at all between WDS nodes.

To be honest - I had a working WDS network on 3x WRT160N v1 with build 26xxx a while ago - everything was working fine.

What has happened that WDS does not work? Any idea?

Tried this the other night for the first time myself. Followed the wiki and other forum posts about correct setup. Host is an rt-ac88u on current BS build, client is an r7000 on current Kong build. Devices show up as nodes on each other, but no connection is carried between them.

I'm having the same situation. Last working version of kongac that has working WDS is 35550M from March 28. Every version since then has wonky WDS that shows the node connected [but only on certain channel/freq] but there would be no network or internet connection.

After some investigating, I've noticed the biggest difference is in the Setup -> Networking tab, where wds0.1 would show up under "interface" of Current Bridging Table for kongac 35550, wds0.1 does not even show for the newer firmware.

I have WDS running my set up

Only 2 Units connected so a very small WDS Network. Security is WPA2-Personal.

It is running on identical Hardware though. Maybe that is a factor ?

update:

now that i think of it. 1 router still uses 17990, as i didnt crawl into the Sub Basement yet.

It is part of the 2 Point wds link :

router 1 (17990) ---wds----router 2 (35531)

now i am even more loath to crawl in and Flash the unit.
