Just curious. Anyone know if this is possible or has been done? The M1 is an awesome device that people are using to connect up to 20 devices in their cars to LTE 4g networks. With dd-wrt we could vpn them and have cars that are basically secure extensions of the office. We could even feel secure about printers and other devices connected to our networks without being exposed to bad actors.

The regular way is, if this architecture is supported, than you have to donate a unit and wait for the Devs to hack it..
Your best bet is get a supported device and my advice is, do not bother with, old, cheap, low specs routers, that are obsolete...look for dual core, 64MB+ flash size routers..
I haven't seen any router with 3g/4g/LTE that has DDWRT support yet.. _________________ Atheros

Bumping this. I joined the forum so I can find out how to do this myself. If I were to go the path of becoming a dev so I could hack this device on my own, where can I start? I've already found links to FCC: https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearchResult.cfm?RequestTimeout=500 and Techinfodepot to find out more about the M1's chip sets, but I am a novice and would take any guidance I can find to start this journey.
So, post all the info and pictures of a device that's been opened so we all know what's going on, to start. Not many folks here will be helpful as far as your navigating the public code repository(ies) https://svn.dd-wrt.com , https://github.com/mirror/dd-wrt ... and what you're wanting to is not for the faint at heart. That being said, good luck.
I am also interested in dd-wrt for Netgear M1. I need static IP for certain devices which is not possible in standard firmware.
To reiterate what's already been stated, a hardware donation by way of a device procured on Amazon.de or other EU market vendor site to be shipped to the developer will guarantee that when the mood strikes, the device will get ported. KEEP IN MIND, that if the hardware is not supported by Open Source, if only PROPRIETARY support is involved, it will most likely NEVER see DD-WRT support. Good luck. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
