Oh, awesome, that's a handy feature. Is WiFi working on the newest build now?

I didn't check if it was working on the last working build; the release from April 1 is also a bricker. I reverted to the one everyone said was stable. Mostly I had been hoping that newer versions would provide OpenVPN, which apparently isn't possible.

You can report the bug on bugtracker. It's at the top of this page. You will need to register a new account before posting your report. Maybe those developers just packed the new firmware based on the programs for ralink soc, without testing on AR670W.

Just about to leave for work but checked my e-mail and noticed activity here - I haven't checked this thread for awhile. Took a look and apparently there have been two new builds since 21153....going to try them tonight when I get home from work if I can

Has anybody else already tried build R21223 or build R21286? Any issues or fixes (like the WiFi...?)

I reverted back to the stable version, has anyone managed to get the repeater bridge mode working on this router with the stable build?

Agreed. I just spent hours trying out the latest builds that would work and only 16214 had the radio working properly. The latest builds without the "airlink-factory-webflash.bin" file brick the device. Thankfully that 192.168.1.10 emegency flash page still works. All other builds after 16214 disable the radio, so it becomes a fancy wired router.

I don't really mind being on this build, since I've created workarounds for the known issues, but I'd like to get further support, and toy with a few new features in later DD-WRT builds.

The problem with the more recent builds are:
* arbitrary wired functionality
* random crashes which require a hard reset
* Seemingly strange issues with MTU

Has anyone braved a recent build and have had it work for more than two days at a stretch?

E: Well, I bit the bullet:

Firmware Version
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/11/13) std - build 20675

E2: Wireless is broken. Back down I go..

hey guys i have a problem with my airlink router.
my firmware is DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/17/11) std - build 16214 and i followed this tutorial to make my router a repeater bridgehttp://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge
it works like a charm of course the only thing i also did that was not mention was cloning the mac address and wmac address to make it work. The issue im facing is with my ps3 for some reason when im playing a game for this purpose let say im playing call of duty. so that problems is that i get lag and i see that i have no bars on my connection even though i don't a problem with my laptop. when i connect my ps3 to the AP without the repeater bridge it works without a problem so can i assume there is something wrong with the repeater bridge router? also i'd tried to run my ps3 wireless and wired but that doesn't affect it and still get lag and no connection bars while playing. i hope someone had a similar issue in which they can point me out in the right direction.

Any help would be appreciated!

Original:AR670W firmware 1.0
DD-WRT: 02-17-11-r16214

I've attempted to webflash DD-WRT v16214 (listed as the "stable version" in the Airlink 101 AR670W - Chip & Flash Details forum) but cannot get it to upload correctly. I meticulously followed the instructions including the 30-30-30 hard reset, reboot, and having patience for the 5+ minutes suggested in the installation guide, peacock and other pages. Here's what I've done:

Using a notebook with Windows XP SP3 and IE8:
1) Hard Reset with stopwatch (30-30-30) plus 10sec before power-off/power-on
2) Login to AR670W web GUI using IE8, user admin, pw admin (factory defaults)
3) Administration>Firmware Upgrade> Browsed to DD-WRT version 16214 bin file and
started upload.
4) After a few minutes web page refreshes to a blank page and URL of http://192.168.1.1/upload.php and stops. No upload confirmation page and no continue button appears.
5) Waited 5 minutes plus (Power light solid, Wireless light blinking normally)
6) Hard Reset with stopwatch (30-30-30) after which only power light is on solid.
7) power-off/power-on and router returns to normal with no DD-WRT installed. Orignal AirLink 101 factory firmware 1.0 is still installed.

I attempted this several times always with the same result.

Next tried to install the factory firmware update to 1.0.1. I switched computers to a desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 and IE10.

I attempted to flash the airlink-factory-webflash.bin using the same protocol as above. Every step was replicated. Afterward, the router only responded by offering a file to be downloaded: wan_config.php. This php page would not open in a browser, instead appeared in a file save dialog box.

I could ping the router on 192.168.1.1 and received all TTL=64. No other IP including 192.168.1.10 (recovery IP) responded.

I hard reset with no resulting change. Just offers the file download.

I switched back to the notebook with Windows XP and started the router again. It booted into the DD-WRT r16214 login page! Not the AirLink 101 factory firmware.

I can browse all of the menus there. However, the router does NOT allow me to change any settings. If I change a drop-down menu item, such as disabling DHCP Server, the web page immediately refreshes to a blank page with the URL of 192.168.1.1/config.php.

I can refresh 192.168.1.1 and am still logged in at the status page with no changes made. All "Apply changes" or "Save" actions result in the same blank config page.

I do not know where or how to proceed from here. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide!

It has been a while since last time I installed update on the router. I checked the firmwares released in 2013. Unfortunately none of them works properly. I checked build 20453, 20675, 21061, 21223, 21286, 21676 and 22118.

Build 21061, 21223, 21286, 21676 will brick the router directly after the update. DO NOT INSTALL THEM !!!

Build 20453, 20675, 22118 will reboot after the update, but without WiFi.

The WiFi problem has been a while since some people reported in year 2012. It seems BrainSlayer didn't realize this bug. If we don't do anything, maybe we will not have a working release for 2013. Does anyone know how to report this kind of problem to BrainSlayer?

I'd love to know if there was a way to directly report this to BrainSlayer as well - I got this router very cheaply for free and would love to get DD-WRT working perfectly on it as I've had it working PERFECTLY on my older LinkSys router for years! Unfortunately, as the latest builds stop the WiFi from working, this is a dealbreaker until it's working again...

I opened a ticket for ar670 issues more than one week ago.

http://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/2998

I'm not sure how long it will take to have a new working firmware. If the bug is not fixed in next release, maybe someone could open a new ticket here to remind them again (need registration before opening new tickets):

I've not upgraded my AR670W beyond v16454 (March 2011 release) - later builds in 2011 were bricking the router, as the image was too large and was clobbering some flash that was allocated for other purposes (if I recall correctly). The emergency flash page saved my bacon a few times with this router.

I haven't tried anything newer - v16454 works quite well for me.
