I have a WRT3200ACM with DD-WRT build 48432. The internet LED is blue (like there is connection to WAN). When I go to Status > WAN in DD-WRT web interface, it also says connected. It gets 192.168.68.165/24 WAN IP assigned via DHCP, and it has the correct gateway 192.168.68.1 and the correct DNS servers. When I connect to DD-WRT via SSH, I can ping outside IPs like 8.8.8.8. Basically everything looks just fine, but there is still no internet on the laptop (and in Status > WAN, traffic stays at 0).
Router's LAN address is set to 192.168.4.4/24 so it is not an IP conflict problem. It gives out IPs like 192.168.4.97 to my laptop.
Now to the bigger picture: I bring this router with me when I travel and stay at airbnbs, so the incoming internet connection is different every time. It worked just fine at the last three places, but now it does not. I am not sure what kind of internet is the house getting, but there is a Deco TP-LINK AC1300 device in my room. It emits WiFi and also has cable slots. If I connect my laptop to the Deco with a cable directly, it has internet just fine, and via WiFi too. When I connect my router in client mode to my phone's hotspot, it also works fine and gives out internet to the laptop.
What on earth could the problem be?

Here are a couple of sreenshots. The router address is back to 192.168.3.1 which is my usual setting (should still be no conflict with the 192.168.68.1 of the outside device).
Adding DNS and rebooting did not help. I see there are dropped packets in ifconfig, does it mean the router is dropping those coming from my laptop? why would that be?

I suspect that the location is somehow blocking your router because the MAC address is not from a PC ethernet/wifi interface, perhaps. MAC cloning might be needed. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

And you plug the router also with WAN port to LAN of the primary router?
Is your router in default gateway mode?
I plug the router with WAN port into LAN of the Deco device, which I think is a WiFi mesh repeater. I also tried connecting to it via WiFi client mode of my router.
Yes, my router is in the default gateway mode. I tried switching to router mode as well.

I tried cloning my laptop's MAC to the router and it did not help. I will try again just in case.
However, since I can ping outside internet from the router itself when I connect via SSH, does it not mean that the location is not blocking it?[/quote]
The behavior reminds me of a now fixed bug where the firewall rules were getting messed up on boot. The cause must be different but you could try the same workarounds ("Apply Settings" in Setup->Advanced Routing or using privoxy).
Yes the behaviour looks very much like that bug, however clicking Apply Settings on Advanced Routing did not help. Nor did MAC cloning.
One weird thing about the house internet connection is that the IP shows up as Comcast Cable in New Jersey even though I am in New Mexico. I asked the landlord, and he said he is not using a VPN, and does not much about networking anyways.
